Though seemingly as fluffy as the clouds you'll weave around, Whale Trail delivers a seriously slick new App Store addiction – one that finds you guiding a flying whale through angry-looking storms and spectacular technicolor backdrops. Similar to Jetpack Joyride, the goal here is to stay afloat as long as possible, with light touches of the screen used to make the whale swoop upwards in pursuit of dots.
Extra care clearly went into making Whale Trail a memorable experience, which shows via the vibrant and surreal creatures and levels, not to mention the trippy, fully sung theme song that remains in my head weeks later. But it's the game itself that keeps me coming back, as the allure of topping the leaderboards and inching further through the clouds is tough to resist.
The bottom line. Whale Trail is a weird and wonderful little App Store diversion that is simple, but undeniably satisfying.
