Rumor: iPhone "Confirmed" For Next Month
Posted 05/20/2008 at 11:45:04am | by Roberto Baldwin

Gizmodo's Jesus Diaz reports, unidentified sources very, very close to the 3G iPhone launch have told him to expect the latest iPhone to be announced June 9 at WWDC and available for purchase immediately afterward.

Jesus also reports, in some countries, the iPhone will no longer be available at a fixed price point. Further information on the countries and how iPhone pricing will flucuate wasn't reported.

While this information is on track with recent rumors, as with with all Apple rumors, this news should be taken with a grain of salt. Still, expect an influx of iPhones on Ebay and Craigslist.

So who expects a new iPhone next month and what will you do with your current iPhone once iPhone 2.0 launches? Tell us below.

I highly doubt the rumors are false. Go to the Apple site go to the store then go to the iPhone... you can't order one. It's been like that for a long time now.

avataryeah, they're trying to save

yeah, they're trying to save themselves from being forced to give out the $100 or whatever reimbursement there would be for late adopter, along with a ton of complaints. That piece of evidence basically guarantees a new phone soon.

avatarRumor: iphone confirmed

What will I do with my current iPhone? See if I can get it upgraded! I can't change the antenna or flash card so they better be able to! Otherwise I'll hold off from getting a new one.

avatarNo upgrades

There is absolutely nothing on your current iPhone that is upgradeable -- hence the original question --

You either keep your old iPHone, or eBay it or similar and upgrade to the new one. There is nothing Apple will do for your old iPhone.

I plan on buying the newest one, and eBaying my older one.

avatarFor my lady

I'm giving my current 16GB iPhone to my wife when the new iPhone is released. She's been asking for weeks where the new iPhone is so she can have my old one.

avatarMy old iPhone....

....is going to my wife. She's been waiting for two months now, so I'll probably have to throw in a new case as well.

I'll be buying one only if it has GPS. I'll sell my old one to my roommate who has serious iPhone envy.

avatarOld iPhone

My spouse and I just sold both iPhones for the same price we bought at on ebay. I actually bought a BlackBerry Curve with Sprint and very happy with it and not planning to invest in the new iPhone. It already has 3G capability, GPS, and a new browser which I like better than Safari as it wraps pages on the display so no need for multi touch. It already supports video and has Sprint TV and for the monthly price AT&T can't beat (as well as real keyboard, never got used to touch keyboard).

What I plan to do is most like buy a new ipod touch to complement my BlackBerry Curve. It will always have more memory than the iPhone, good display to watch videos, nice MP3, and WI-FI for web when I want to use it. I can use my BlackBerry for calling, texting, emails, etc something that iPhone is not particularly good at.

Well, my iPhone screen is shattered at the top.
This is a good reason to buy a new one
since they wanted $250 to replace!

I heard apple wasn't allowed to ask "why"

avatarI never understood why

I never understood why people buy an iPhone now and pay same price for the old one as new one in the store especially when the new iPhone is coming in few weeks. Anyone remembers that iPhone batteries only last a year or so and cost like $79 to replace?

avatariPhone ... hum...

I wouldn't mind getting an iPhone 2.0, but if the 1st gen phones go on massive sale... I think I could deal with that.

Firstly however, I'd have to give up my Sony Ericcson w580i... and i don't know if I'd want to do that, as I really like this phone.

avatarOld iPhone Vs New iPhone

I would give mine to my daughter... But only if the SIM transfer is possible or a number transfer is done. I need to keep my actual number and so does my daughter. Questions ... Questions... Any ideas?

well as far as the SIM transfer goes, yes it is not only able to do this but is designed that way for a reason, GSM cell phones talk to the network via the SIM card, so yes you and you daughter can keep your numbers.

avatarJust don't call AT&T asking

Just don't call AT&T asking about it, they will lie to you. For some reason their service people are all told to tell anyone who asks that all SIM cards are tied to the phone they come with.

Though if you can sync your current phones with your 'puter, that is somewhat easier than SIM swapping with the iPhone.
