avatarWhy A Sony Vaio Commercial?

Why are you running Sony Vaio commercials on a >>MAC<<|Life podcast? Isn't that like running an Apple commercial in Redmond? Is anyone seeing this podcast going to ditch their Mac for a Vaio?

avatarRentals through iTunes...

The downfall of this is quality and d/l speed. If you have to select the movie to watch the night or morning before, then this is not much better than Netflix. Even with great transfer rates, how long does it take to d/l a 1 GB file?

I envision a service that downloads the next item in your queue when you delete a video you have already watched. If you have braodband, the download shouldn't take more than a few hours. It just depends on your d/l rate at home. I downloaded a 686 MB file from iTunes in 5 minutes at work. So it's just a matter of your service.

The biggest issue will be new releases that are in high demand. Those may take longer than people are willing to wait.

Right now, any solution that works with a Mac and allows me to sit on my couch, instead of my computer desk, would be nice.

avatarQuality/speed of movie downloads

It has always amazed me how good the quality of the movie trailers in Front Row are. After a very short "buffering" period before the trailer starts, they look/sound great and very rarely stutter on my first generation MacBook Pro and iMac G5. The movie trailer couldn't possibly be downloading in the short, pre-play period. So I think Apple has some technology up it's sleeve that could make rentals very quick and high quality.
