Var, bin, lib, etc...what's with all those crazy Unix-style folders in Mac OS X?
Look no further than the hier man pages. Simply open up Terminal (/Applications/Utilities), type man hier, and press Return - you'll get a nice little overview of what those Unix directories are for.

you have to agree that the gui makes it much more easier to handle things especially for beginners ? What if you are new to a "pc... pff whats that" or simply a mac but without all the nicely done drag n' drops and so on - just think about it - .. pff I think now 75% of the current MAC users just say good bye :P gg* hope there are definitely more UNIX geeks out there.. ?!

I can remember the days when a Macintosh was, you know, a Macintosh. Unix was good enough for Indies, but we had Apple Menu Items and other cool things. Sigh.
