Video: Sprint Takes on the iPhone
Sprint is taking off the mobile device gloves in its $100 million ad campaign pitting its new Instinct against the Apple iPhone.
Sprint relying on GPS and EVDO to showcase the Samsung-manufactured Instinct with ads that will begin on May 9. If recent rumors are to be believed, the 3G iPhone with GPS will launch in June or July, so Sprint doesn't have much time to sway customers.
Gizmodo makes a good point, don't do a side-by-side comparison when your screen is smaller than your competitor.

Not only is the screen smaller, but then they have all that crap on the sides of the browser window, so the effective viewing area of the page is tiny.

I dunno . . . I think it's good for Apple to have competition. Thanks to iPhone, the cell phone landscape has done a complete 180 over the past year. I think as a slim internet capable device, the Instinct isn't terrible. That said though, I can hardly wait to see what Apple unveils this summer . . .

Wow.

Yeah... I'm sure Apple is pretty grateful for the free publicity this'll generate for the 3G iPhone, that ad isn't comparing the phones (though the iPhone clearly wins on simple usability and looks alone) but the networks.
Sprint will probably want some of that wedge of change back in a few months time, worse than the Zune.

Why is it that people use rumors of devices and so forth to backup claims that a device won't do as good as an Apple one. I hope the Instinct does well (hopefully it won't be running WM6) because the iPhone is the best phone on the market, but nothing can show Apple and iPhone fanboys that AT&T is ruining the device.
