When setting up a new - or repurposed - Mac, why strain your brains about which files are where when your Mac can take care of business for you?

Sure. You can connect the two Macs via FireWire and launch the Migration Assistant (/Applications/Utilities/) on the new Mac for help with the transfer. It's also a good idea, before you transfer the data, to reinstall Mac OS X and select Options from the main screen to erase the disk (and any of your personal info that's on it) before passing the Mac on.

BONUS TIP: Better Safe Than Sorry
After the migration, launch Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities), highlight the drive you moved the data to, and select Repair Disk Permissions to make sure that all the transplanted files play nice with your system.
