The Mac|Life editors accumulate tons of rad stuff on their desks. While we would love to call "dibs" on all the stuff, we realize that it would be cooler to share the spoils of editorial war with our faithful readers.
So for this weeks Comment Contest we're giving away a Mysterious Box of Mystery filled with random gadgets and software found on the Mac|Life editor's desks. We figure the box has a street value of at least $300 worth of mysterious fun.
All you have to do is post a comment naming your favorite App Store app in this article to win the Mysterious Box of Mystery.
If you love Line Rider, tell us the comments. Are you gaga for Yelp? Tell us in the comments. That's it!
Our Mac|Life super comment choosing machine will choose a random comment and award one lucky person the mysterious box of mystery, with a retail value of $300.00. The odds of winning are determined by the number of eligible entries received. The prize is nontransferable and must be accepted as awarded.
Here are the rules:
- You can only enter once. Commenting more than once will automatically disqualify you from the contest.
- The contest is limited to legal residents of the United States (excluding residents of Puerto Rico). Void where prohibited by law. Entrants must be at least 13 years of age.
- The contest will end at 11:59p.m. PDT on October 30, 2008.
- Check out the full official rules below.
So cross your fingers and start your comments.

Shazam
Submitted by tmulcare on Tue, 2008-10-28 19:24
Shazam is the most useful app for me personally. I hate when I hear a song on the radio, but they don't say the name of it. With shazam, all that I have to do is hold it near the speaker, and voila, a new song.
I.TV

Dude, this is the greatest app, especially when your current remote is broken and you want to know exaaactly just what channel to turn to, ya know, instead of having so much fun standing there manually flipping for ten minutes.

Trace!
Submitted by mattc986 on Tue, 2008-10-28 20:15
Trace is such a fun game because it's your normal side scrolling action-ish game except you get to draw in the game world and create how you defeat the level! There is not necessarily a set way and your innovation can help you!
And, it's free

best iPhone/iPod Touch app

Palringo IM ... texting via IM is sooo much cheaper than SMS texting
Evernote is the best!
Submitted by macpug on Wed, 2008-10-29 01:30
I use Evernote in all its iterations dozens of times daily. On the iPhone, the Snapshot Note is the killer function that caused me to keep my iPhone when I really wanted to go back to my RAZR/iPod Touch setup. I can't do without it. I use the Snapshot Note function to take pix/prices of things I need to remember that would have ended up on scraps of paper with a puzzled "WTF was that for?" from me. It's features are limited only by your imagination. It is definitely my "can't live without it" app.
Stanza!
Submitted by MacMinder on Wed, 2008-10-29 04:16
Although MonstrMatch is getting more play these days, I gotta go with Stanza. What could be better than a free e-book reader with thousands of free titles available.
Top that, Oprah.

My favorite App
Submitted by linkycat on Wed, 2008-10-29 06:26
Okay... I know it's lame... but I'm a musician and my absolutely MOST used app is Pianist. I direct choirs (I know, I know...) and use Pianist most when I'm sitting in a music library and wanting to thumb through some pieces. During rehearsal I'd love to use one of the metronome Apps, but they are all a little off tempo.
So yeah. Most used App: Pianist.
My Fave App

MY favorite app is "Cube Runner" i really like the ability to download levels from the intarwebs
Favorite app is Trism
Submitted by malissalu on Wed, 2008-10-29 08:39
I love its simplicity, yet it is incredibly challenging and relaxing at the same time. Although, when I'm at work, epocrates is my favorite because I use it to look up drug information for patients several times a day. But overall...Trism wins, hands down!

So fat it is still Cannon Challenge. Simple to learn, difficult (for me anyway) to master, and perfectly fills that "I have five minutes to wait I think I'll play a game" moment.

AirSharing
Submitted by JasperDyne on Wed, 2008-10-29 14:34
I've always used my iPods as portable hard drives, frequently using them a diagnostic boot drives filled with utilities and tools. Unfortunately, Apple doesn't let you do that anymore with the iPhone and iPod Touch. AirSharing helps fill that void.Even if I can't load a bootable OS to my iPod Touch or iPhone, I can still use them to haul around important bits of data and files. I can even read PDF, text and certain other files right on the device.Very handy. My runners-up would be: 1Password, PocketGuitar & More Cowbell!
Coolest App

Sports-Tap ..especially for the past 3 weeks
Submitted by chipv on Wed, 2008-10-29 16:08
Sports-Tap, by Mobile1Sports:
I'm a musician in Austin, TX. So I'll be in rehearsals, or recording or at a gig even.. Trying to follow UT football.. Cowboys up and down nailbiter/headache-making football.. and of course, my hometown, Phillies, bid in the World Series and I don't have to be Homer Simpson with my AM radio on .. yelling out YES!! YES!! in the middle of a take, or de-railing everyone in a rehearsal.. etc.
Although, I have delivered a few expletives at inappropriate times.. but hey.. I'm a drummer.. my band-mates should expect that, right?

PhraseCraze - My Favorite App
Submitted by rjgrune on Wed, 2008-10-29 16:05
Now I do have to be clear, I am the developer for this app. And that reason alone is probably the main reason that is my favorite, because after working on it - I really love it and it really has been a blast every time that I've played it with a group of friends. So PhraseCraze gets my vote.

Shazam is the greatest app to hit the store so far. And its free. Doesn't get better than that! Oh wait, Shaq was Kazam huh.............
AirSharing
Submitted by chaospherenet on Thu, 2008-10-30 08:35
I think air sharing is the greatest app so far. Being in a car in the mood to listen to a song its not on a cd or ipod or iphone however you have a laptop....cant hook that up to the car. Open air sharing and then transfer to the phone and hook up to the car and the song you wanted to hear is now playing just like that. Or realizing you have a test you left your books in your room, however, you have the notes on the air sharing you are reading them as a refresher.
Crazy Skeleton
Submitted by MacMacMac on Thu, 2008-10-30 09:35
I picked up Crazy Skeleton when it was free, and it has kept my kids busy for hours over the past couple weeks. So that quiet time makes it the best app ever.
Use the force
Submitted by macman1 on Thu, 2008-10-30 09:39
The absolute best app has to be phonesaber, it's funniest, nerdiest app I have ever seen. Now I can release my inner jedi with an enthusiasm that makes everyone around me act like they don't know me.
Sudoku Daily
Submitted by masjones on Thu, 2008-10-30 10:28
I am addicted to Sudoku, yes, I know, my life is sad....
I love Enjoy Sudoku Daily because it lets me play several puzzles a day, and some of the puzzles are easy enough that I can share my addiction with my 10 year old daughter... Wait, I just noticed this from the article...."All you have to do is post a comment naming your favorite App Store app in this article to win the Mysterious Box of Mystery." Does this mean since I don't use Line Rider or Yelp I can't win? My life is over....
