There's never been a better time to be a Mac gamer, and if you're looking to catch up on the year's best releases, we have 10 sizzling experiences ready to captivate until 2013's titles take hold.
Hollywood is a veritable poster child for Apple products, where Macs have long been favored over Windows for creative tasks from scriptwriting through post-production. It's been another incredible year for iOS gaming, helped in no small part by significant hardware upgrades like the Retina display on the last two full-sized iPads, plus the larger screen of the iPhone 5. If you're looking to play catch-up on 2012's best iOS games before diving into 2013's anticipated fare, be sure to load up your device of choice with these fantastic titles.
Bartender is one of those apps that should be a feature of OS X itself. Once you allow software to populate the menu bar with icons, there should be decent means of management, beyond Command-clicking to drag the icons around. Once you get more than 10 or so apps running up there, your menu bar starts to look crowded, and that's when you signal for the Bartender.
When we reviewed the Sphero as part of our Group Test of iOS-controlled toys, we mentioned that "putting Sphero through its paces is all about software. Happily, there's plenty of it." Batman: Arkham Asylum, released on Mac last year, pushed superhero games in directions that nobody really expected but everyone wanted (and almost immediately began to copy). Its rhythmic fights were immediately satisfying and endlessly fun. Its wonderfully creepy, secret-filled world was a joy to explore.
