After weeks of rumors, Apple finally made good with a tablet computer called the iPad. But one thing is conspicuously absent from its new iBookstore, particularly after so many publishers have promised them: Magazines.
If your head is still fuzzy from an iPad media event hangover, you might have missed a nugget of info that’s now part of the iPhone SDK: Apple is now allowing apps to make VoIP calls over 3G data connections!
After some technical difficulties this morning, we got our live blog back up and running. Of course because of the Internet melt down, many of the pictures we took at the event never made it to the site. We also have a ton of pictures from the hands on. EIC Paul and I were supa-stoked to get some hands-on time with the iPad after this morning's event. We played with it for about 90 minutes, lingering as long as we could even while Apple's uber-patient gadget-handlers politely mentioned (and rementioned) that "we're getting ready to shut it down."
Shut it down?! Never! We are geeks with a new toy! Christmas morning and whatnot! Anyway, after they pried it from our sweaty trembling hands, we jotted down these first impressions just for you. (Plus video, after the jump...)
