Well, we've had time to calm down after the big iPad release and the announcement of iPhone OS 4.0 quickly followed by the release of the new MacBooks. So it's been a pretty heady last few weeks. Let's all take a couple deep breaths, relax, and gird our loins for the upcoming iPad 3G release.
As we're girding, however, what better way to relax with than a roundup of the best of the best – you know what we're talking about: the greatest show on earth, as put on by the staff of Mac|Life.
Well, if the week before last was the week of the iPad, last week was the week of iPhone OS 4.0. Apple's big announcement event answered a number of criticisms, introduced a bunch of exciting new developments, and set off fresh rounds of speculation.
And with the new OS in developers' (and jailbreakers') hands, you just knew the stories off the official press beat were going to show some of the tastier little features not covered on Thursday. But guess what? Other things happened, and we were there. So join us for our weekly coffee and the best of the week from Mac|Life.
Well, when next we meet for our next round of In Case You Missed It, things will be different. It Will Have Happened. At least one of you, maybe more, just might be reading next week's column on the fabled iPad.
Now, we're not saying that this is the very first place that you should check out on Mobile Safari once you get your iPad in your hot little hands. We're just saying that this is the absolute very first place you should check out. And now, the end of an era, this week's best pre-iPad viewed Mac|Life columns.
Spring has sprung and sprung with a vengeance. Sunshine! Warm air! Being outdoors is once again a treat. Just as the vernal equinox passes us by and leads us to a bit more moving about, it'll soon be iPad launch day and we may find no good reasons to go back inside for quite some time.
Meanwhile, as we await that wonderful sidewalk cafe life with our reading and our data streaming right by our sides, here's this week's menu of the best stories from a week of Mac|Life. Order well.
We know spring doesn't officially start for another two weeks, but the way the weather and the sun have been playing with our minds lately, it feels like it might really happen on schedule. Of course, if we know winter, there's always at least one more trick up its sleeve. But this weather! It almost makes us not want to be inside playing with our tech toys.
So load up these links on your iPhone and get stepping out like us, because it's another sunshiney week of the best of the best from Mac|Life.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. If you're one of our more easterly readers, you're probably getting sick of the stuff. Unless you're a skier or a snowboarder or are inexplicably into curling. If you're out a little further west, it's just the thing for the slopes and you wish you were getting a little of that east coast action.
And if you're up north in Vancouver, you've been seeing it all the time. And in honor of the 2010 games, Mac|Life has a full slate of medals to hand out in the best writing of the week. Of course they're all gold, silly. It's Mac|Life, after all.
By now, you've undoubtedly become familiar with Google's ubiquitous
prescence on the web. Whether you're sending an email in Gmail, finding
directions to that fancy restaurant using Google Maps, or pretending to
be a part of the latest microblogging craze with Google Buzz, the G-word
is everywhere. Well, it turns out that there is also a whole library of
Google web applications and services stacked up behind the everyday
services you may have come to take for granted.
Okay, so the world didn't
change. Steve Jobs came out, unveiled the iPad, it was pretty much most
of what we'd come to expect by this point with a surprise or two thrown
in. Seriously, Apple, AT&T again? That we didn't see coming.
you know what you should see coming? A week's worth of articles, sliced
and diced, chopped and grated, and summarized for your pleasure below. Who says the only thing going on is the freaking Super Bowl?
Let's face it. This week's column is useless, completely and absolutely useless. Seriously. Did you miss anything this week, anything at all? Weren't you here every day, gobbling up the latest tablet rumors -- what would it be called, would it do this, would it do that?
And then, January 27th arrived, and from 10 am EST, you were here on the hour, hitting refresh every five minutes. Then the aftermath. What else would be revealed, what other new trickles of news would slip out?
Well, just in case you were buried under a rock or just secured parole yesterday, here's the roundup of the week the iPad made.
Are you finally getting over your New Year's Eve partying? We got around to feeling human sometime late last night, just before bed again. Well, in case you were traveling or exercising your drinking arm excessively and didn't have a chance to check out these hot hits, here's a list of awesome Mac|Life articles to get you up to speed.
