November 2009 Back-Page Contest: Apptacular Challenge!

We're big fans of the App Store. At last count, all of the Mac|Life editors had at least eight Home screens of apps on their iPhones and iPod touches (Robbie took the prize with a ridiculous 11 screens of apps on his phone). We're curious to see what apps our readers can't live without, so send us your top 5 apps, along with screenshots (hit the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously) and a sentence or two about why you like each of them. As always, Mac|Life editors will vote on the most interesting entries, and the winners will take home an excellent prize.

WIN THIS!

The top three finalists will each receive a Juice Pack Air ($79.95, www.mophie.com) featuring a 1200mAh battery to nearly double the battery life of your iPhone 3G or 3GS.

Include your full name, email and mailing addresses, anad phone number with your entry. Send your list in the body of an email and screenshots to contest@maclife.com with the subject line "Apptacular Challenge." Deadline for entry: November 30, 2009. Contest results will appear in the Feb/10 issue.

October 2009 Back-Page Contest: Can't Live Without It Challenge!

We're fascinated by Mac software (obviously), in particular the must-have utilities and lesser-known apps that people can't live without. Which got us thinking. What are your favorite apps? Put another way, if you could only install 10 go-to apps on a new Mac, what would they be? Send us your list of your favorites, along with a brief description of what you use them for. We'll choose the most interesting and eclectic collection, and the winner will receive some cool prizes from Just Mobile.

September 2009 Back-Page Contest: Lights, Camera, Action!

Everybody moaned and groaned when the iPhone 3G didn't have a video camera--but now the 3GS does. And we want to see what you're all shooting. So hop to it. Make us a short film, shot entirely on your iPhone. Show us your rollerblading cat. Or wow us with your collection of vintage Apple computers. Whatever it is, we want to see you put that video camera to good use. Impress us with your iPhone cinematography. Or maybe just make us laugh.

October 2008 Back-Page Contest:
The Art of Toast Challenge

We’ve had you do all kinds of things with your Macs to win our fabulous prizes, but now it’s time to get wacky—it’s time to make toast art. This month’s prize, courtesy of the good people at Roxio, is a copy of the disc-burning wonder app Toast 9 Titanium. So check out www.blacktable.com/gillin041202.htm for inspiration, then head to the kitchen with bread, butter, maybe some foil or a homemade (oven-safe!!!) stencil, and make your own Super Awesome Patterned Toast. (Kids, make sure you check with a grown-up first!) The image you choose for your edible masterpiece doesn’t have to be Jesus, of course—because anything you dream, you can put on toast.

Send us a picture of your toast (toasted bread only, no other props), and our judges will pick one winner based on creativity, humor, and beauty. But in a sense, everyone wins. Because, hey, toast is yummy.

Win This! Toast 9 Titanium ($99.99, www.roxio.com) is more versatile than sliced bread: It burns CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs; records Internet radio; imports and burns shows from your TiVo; and makes backing up to discs one-click easy. And to give you something to back up, we’ll toss in a $50 iTunes Gift Card.

To enter: Include your full name, email and mailing addresses, and phone number with your entry. Email a JPEG (5MB size limit) to contest@maclife.com with the subject line “The Art of Toast Challenge.” Or send one printed photo to: The Art of Toast Challenge, c/o Mac|Life Editor, 4000 Shoreline Court, Suite 400, South San Francisco, CA 94080. Deadline for entry: October 31, 2008. Contest results will appear in the Jan/09 issue.
