Katrina who?
I seriously had no idea that anything major was happening with this hurricane business until about two days ago. I don't watch TV. I get most of my news from tech sites. I have a five minute commute to work.
As I entered the dealership, passing through the service department customer waiting area, I noticed something on Fox News which gave me my first clue.
Then I started to realize that everything in the media seems to be concerning Katrina, and I started to become aware of conversation on the subject all around me.
Weird.
The storm starts when the drops start dropping. When the drops stop dropping, the storm starts stopping.

Well, New Orleans isn't supposed to even get power for another 2-3 months, so yeah, it is rather big news.

Re: Katrina who?
Ya this disaster will most certainly dwarf Sept 11 in damages... and probably deaths.
Quite frankly, I'm surprised it has taken people so long to give a smurf. This is sad. Really really sad. Those people needed money, buses, food, medical supplies, and military personal days ago. People, in a major US city, are dying from starvation, and police are being forced to defend themselves inside of their own departments. Crazy....so so crazy.
"Hi, Tracy." I declared warmly. "It's me. Tek Jansen."

I was referring to the original poster in surprise that he just learned about it.
Even if you are just visiting online, there were threads here about it.

Who cares about power when the entire city is UNDERWATER?
Anyway, I have relatives who live(d?) in New Orleans. They are luckily not in the superdome with everyone else; they are staying with my other relatives in Baton Rouge. However things don't look good for their house.

I saw the threads, I just didn't realize the capacity of the damage.

I was rather surprised myself, when I saw the footage about two days later. It's the new lost city of Atlantis and stuff.
