New neighbors
Keep in mind this is a quiet neighborhood, for the most part, and it's also a private closed community.
Everyone in my immediate area has their own little thing that i'm sure irritates other people, including me, but these new neighbors are starting to become a PITA. I'm guessing they're renters, because the only people that have lived here with no regard whatsoever for anyone else have been neighbors.
We have found garbage in our yard. We have found bits of what little landscaping there is, missing. The kids (actually the kids are adults) move cars around, and when they do this, they sit in the street and squeal the tires and burn out. Who the hell burns rubber in a Dodge Caravan??
I really hate to blame this on them, but i think they tried to break into my sons car last night. His car is here until Tuesday when it gets towed back to his place. Long story, but he got in an accident, and he couldn't drive it back home (130 miles away), so it's here til then. His car also had a stereo "system" in it. However, it's all in my trunk for now. He gutted the inside of his car because the car's going straight to the body shop from here.
Anyway, i was woken from a deep sleep at 230a this morning. I didn't realize he'd armed one of the alarms. I flew outta the house with the alarm thingy, jacked up my arm and foot falling down the stairs, and of course, i forgot my glasses. I just remember pushing buttons over and over, apparently, disarming and arming over and over. This alarm isn't sensitive enough for small animals to set it off, so i can only suspect someone tried to break into it. It's funny, cause there's nothing left in it, but the windows are tinted and you can't see inside.
I'd hate to think a neighbor or anyone else in this area would do this, but in reality, i know it could, and has, happened, and it's usually the renters.

Concerning the Dodge Caravan "burning out tires" thing.
Ahem. Me.
Spirit was crushed; now is fading, But I want to help make things right.
Because I can see and I can feel, and you can see and you can feel
So why don't we both either stand up and fight
Or at least together we'll call it a night.

Re: New neighbors
Yeah, we've had some pretty bad neighbors too. Some neighbors broke into our Beetle and a relative's Passat we were keeping for him while he was borrowing our EuroVan for a road trip. Nothing was really stolen, we're not stupid enough to leave valuables in our cars. xD

Re: New neighbors
Get some security cameras. We had some problems with someone sticking nails in our tires, so we are in the process of setting them up.

Re: New neighbors
If you live in a private gated community you probably have zoning codes. Just find them out and get them booted out. Yes, you can have them evicted from their own home. Isn't democracy fun?
If you asked me to name the three scariest threats facing the human race, I would give the same answer that most people would: nuclear war, global warming and Windows.

Re: New neighbors
Wait wait wait. I'm still trying to figure this one out. The caravan is manual, right? I didn't think they made them that way, but how do you do it in an automatic? Is it just neutral, rev, then into drive quickly?
Or you could always slam on the gas, but I didn't think caravans have that kind of pickup.
I do not think that word means what you think it means.

You'd be suprised.

Yes you would. My mom used to have a '99 Grand Caravan with the 3.3L V6. I used to smoke the tires on that thing occasionally. It looks big and bulky, but it is basically a hollow shell with a few seats in it.
