Mighty Mouse in UT?

I've been caught up in the summer meat life, but I hope to get back to fraggin's soon.

If anyone springs for a Mighty Mouse, would you please post your experiences with it in UT (if it's even appropriate for the game at all)?

Re: Mighty Mouse in UT?

I'd imagine the side buttons could get to be somewhat of a problem with how they are located, since you might begin to grip the mouse during intense moments. Imagine watching somebody playing with a mighty mouse with the side buttons set to weapons switch, you're looking down the barrel of their flack cannon, then suddenly they switch to the shield gun when you think you're about to die.

As for the "not having to click", I think you still have to click, it just senses which side you're trying to click on. Otherwise it would be prone to blowing yourself up with rockets when you're walking along the wall and accidentally "click."

However, I will reserve an final opinions to what a user has to say.

Why would you use the side buttons to switch when you have a 2-way scroll-nipple? Right-clicking being hit-and-miss could be an arse though.

Re: Mighty Mouse in UT?

Some people still use buttons for switching. I was just trying to find a humorous example, though. I would have picked jump (one of my side buttons is set to that), but jumping is done all the time when fighting in that game, so that wouldn't work. tongue

Re: Mighty Mouse in UT?

I'm certainly looking forward to trying one out. Maybe I'll get one for our iMac G3 MP3 server, and take her out for a spin in UT.

Yeah, its not great for gaming at all. If you want a mouse for gaming, go something like the MX518 instead.

Re: Mighty Mouse in UT?

Hi guys...
I'll be posting a review soon at Macologist, but the news is not good.

The bottom line is that it lacks tactile feedback of all sorts, and is not reliable.  You can never be sure it will do what you want it to do.. And remember there is only one physical click mechanism: the entire top shell depresses to click, whether it's left, right, or middle click.  That makes the feedback difficult but also rapid alternate or simultaneous combos of these clicks nearly impossible.  The location of the scroll ball is too far forward, and its touch pressure has to be 'just right' to scroll (not too hard or soft).  The side button has no tactile feedback either.
