Micro vs Macro Evolution- no difference

In philosophy today, like many other times, our conversation moved away from what it was to creationism vs evolution.  Someone in our class said something that I hear a lot from religious people, that they believe in "micro" evolution, but not "macro"

Excuse me if you do not agree, but it seems impossible to me for someone to believe in micro but not macro.  This is equivilant of saying you believe in the addition of numbers but not multiplication, being as repeated addition is the definition of multiplication, much like multiple "micro evolutions" constitute a "macro evolution".

It takes very little knowledge of math to discover that several little changes will eventually lead to a big change, no?  Does anyone here not agree, I'd really like to know how it is some people pull off believeing in one but not the other.

Re: Micro vs Macro Evolution- no difference

I don't agree with their view, but I think the crux of it is that they believe we can adapt to our surroundings by evolving, but not to the point where we become another species.
