Trying to add a wireless 802.11g to am old mac
I have a Mac G4 agp (sawtooth) running Mac OS 9 (May go to OS 10 - depends on some of my application). I have a wireless in my home where the network is currently using 802.11G. My question:
Can I hook up a 802.11 G (using an external network adapter) so I can be on the wireless network. I cannot us the "b" because it will bring down the network to a lower speed.
If this works - what devices can you recomend.
Thx

Usually using a lower speed adapter will not slow down the network speed, unless of course you have some strange type of wireless device.

Using a single "b" client does slow down the whole network. You could always use and AirPort Express and attach it to the G4 using an ethernet cable.

Re: Trying to add a wireless 802.11g to am old mac
I just hooked up a Belkin wireless ethernet bridge and using it with a wireless belkin 802.11g router. this allows two iMacs with ethernet ports to share my cable network. they work great and the only issue is I can not print from the iMac running 10.2.8 ??? I have not figured that out yet....
but just so you know the Belkin router and wireless ethernet bridge work well with the older iMacs

Well I guess it slows down your network but not mine. Maybe it's the quality of the equipment you're using.
