How does China violate Women's rights:

It does nothing to protect female babies, which are often abandoned due to the one child law.  There have been documented reports (recognized by the U.N.) of forced abortions on rural women.  It does nothing to enforce domestic violence laws and the nation has one of the highest female suicide rates. 

Yeah, most of the major problems happen in the rural areas.  So you could make the argument that urban growth (and the current system) is a way of fixing that.  Too bad its not sustainable, eh?
