How to get back at France

America is annoyed that France, the chief culprit among others, is attempting to stifle an attack on Iraq.

We could list reasons for French resistance (humanitarianism, internationalism, peace in our time, ect.), but we all know the real reason: France likes the oil for food arangement they have with Iraq.

America, we don't really have to attack Iraq, do we?  All we want is SH gone and or useless. so...........

Proposal: France has to abide by the suspension of all oil for food trade for ten years (and the suspension of all Iraqi oil trade--total blockade).  The U.S. (and a coalition of the willing) will provide Iraq all the food it could consume and every other non-threatening amenity (including tvs) the Iraq could desire.  In return for this, the U.S. allows -massive, at least 10,000 inspectors- U.N. inspections for 10 years.

No war, SH has UN ispectors constantly crawling everywhere (breaking up palace parties, now and then), France is ticked because its true hearts desire is gone, and U.S. saves money by not having to use its bombs.

Wishful thinking, sentimental tripe--sure, but it would be nice to accomplish a worthy goal with true style.  Come on Mr. Bush, it would be funny....

Re: How to get back at France

clever.

Surely, we should do the same to Germany, seeing as they had the most companies supplying Saddam with most dual-use technology that helped their nuclear and chemical weapons programs.

Re: How to get back at France

So because they have something we want, and are trying to keep it, we should punish them?

Hmmm...

We Americans live in a nation where the medical-care system is second to none in the world, unless you count maybe 25 or 30 little scuzzball countries like Scotland that we could vaporize in seconds if we felt like it.

we don't need the oil.....assuming oil is what you're getting at.

Europe depends more on middle-eastern oil than we do.

Then why are there proposals to drill all over the Alaskan wilderness?
And if we didn't need the oil why do we use forign oil in the first place?

we don't need to steal the oil because we **gasp:idea:** already buy some of it from them.

Then why do you support us stealing it from people who buy it themselves, who, as you claim, depend on it more then us?

Who's advocating stealing?

Re: How to get back at France

Remeber guys, this not about stealing oil, this is about honesty.
France has come up with reason after reason to avert war without
admitting the truth: cheap oil.

If we are true internationalists then the only thing we can trust is their word.

They don't want war and they want further inspections, we want war and an end to the corrupt cash pipe that feeds SH.

Presto! we have a deal!  No more oil for France, no war in Iraq, and 10 glorious years of inspections.  This is diplomacy at its finest.

So taking something that France is already doing, but not us, prevent them from doing it for a few years, while we do it ourselves, is not staling?

Ok, then fine, it is a classic case of 2nd grade bullying.

Cyril, do I miss something, or have you completely forgotten that the current French diplomacy is at heart as bad and petty as my proposal is.

Yeah I am aware that your article is satire, and I must admit quite funny, but it seems Hillbilly here is taking it seriously.

Re: How to get back at France

easy.  The US just stops imports from France and flood the French market with cheap, government subsidized American goods.  That's the easiest way to get rid of international problems.  Hit them in the pocketbook.

Re: How to get back at France

Funny it may be, but it does make you wonder why France and Germany (not to mention Russia) are against war at all costs.  Im sure its just their totally altruistic humanitarian nature.  They have the world's best interests at heart with no thought of their own countries or their own pockets.  wink

Im sure it couldnt possibly have anything to do with their desire to maintain the status quo and preserve their economic dealings with Iraq as they currently exist.  Ahhh the noble French.  Always trying to find new ways to help others.   lol   lol  lol  lol   Now that was hard to get out without laughing.

Re: How to get back at France

Yeah, but Americas intentions are not so noble either.

I just guess the needy can only get help when there are vital rescources at stake, and even then it may not improve their situation.
