The Rules - Discuss (continued)
The Rules.
Discuss 'em in here. Don't like one? Let's talk about it. Think we need a new one? Have at it, what'cha got?
(Continued from here, which seems to be glitching again. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, a Texan sticks his foot in his mouth. Or something like that...)

So when we left off, we were crucifying oatmeal for stances on the XYZ debacle and about Cybercott.

Re: The Rules - Discuss (continued)
I'm confused (not that I ever bothered reading the other rules thread but I digress) -- why the spin-off thread?
Do any new rules actually come from those long threads? Can't we have a summary of it and have this added as an amendment to the initial rules thread? I need clarity (and closure).

rules? smurf rules, rules suck
Spirit was crushed; now is fading, But I want to help make things right.
Because I can see and I can feel, and you can see and you can feel
So why don't we both either stand up and fight
Or at least together we'll call it a night.

Every time the forums decided to glitch about something we were losing posts (temporarily) from the end of that one. It's closed now, so there will be no new posts to go missing.
A summary? Sure. I nominate you to write it. Get on it, we're waiting. (AKA: No.)

Why's the thread going bonkers anyway? The "What song are you listening to?" thread in Unplugged is 10 times as long.

Beats me. Maybe it was begining to achieve critical bitchmoan mass and was going to collapse into a black hole. That would explain the dissappearing posts...
Besides, who is looking for content in the "what song are you listening to" thread? Maybe they are disappearing during glitches, just no one notices.

Well I can believe that.
I keep posting in that thread that I'm currently listening to the Barney and Friends theme song, but no one seems to notice.
Aw, he's no fun, he fell right over.

It's all Oatie's fault, Duke my dear. The board itself is extracting revenge.

I'm responsible for the disappearing posts.
If you are missing a post go to the index page and you'll see me logged in 4x. That pushes posts off the end of the thread.
3x however many posts I made in the thread and that's how many should be missing.

Re: The Rules - Discuss (continued)
We need a rule against arrogance and double-standards in moderators. It was perfectly OK for Duke to destroy my topic with pages of giant photos coupled with constant trolling posts about the Rules. There wasn't a peep from Oatmeal, except for a complaint about the illogical zombie topic policy, a policy that was implemented by a complete and arbitrary change in policy.
Unlike Duke, who was able to destroy a perfectly good topic that people put time and effort into, including Duke before he realized he had an opportunity for trolling, when a topic with a cryptic title and only a link came along, I politely suggested to the poster that he use a more descriptive title in the future. I wasn't a jerk like Duke. I didn't quote the Rules. I wasn't mean. But, Oatmeal decided to be arrogant, proclaiming that only he is allowed to ask posters things like that.
Yes, fuhrer!
I'm tired of the double-standards and the arrogance, Oatmeal. You need to do a better job as a mod. There was no need to lock that topic and there was no need to lecture me and throw your petty weight around again. Your ego needs to be downsized.
there's really no need for all of this

I think YOUR ego needs to be downsized. You bitched about the exact same thing that you have done in numerous posts on these forums. Then you got mad because a mod (rightly) slapped you for doing it. It's called a report button; try using it sometime. or maybe you need reminded of how you normally post here in order to see the true hypocrisy. Of course, you never did reply to the statements that appeared after your hissy fit (standard fare), but I'll save you the trouble of searching the first link and repeat myself, ok?
The last post on that particular thread was on 1/8/05 before you posted in it. Only the Gods know what page that particular topic was on when you found it, and probably everyone forgot what they even said. It means either you performed a server search for the topic or you went through the many many pages of MiniThink to find this topic. In this case, I'd find it more preferable to see a new topic over one that goes back to January of this year. My own personal rule is that if I can't find it on the first page, start it up and see what happens. In addition to this, your only response to the thread was to post a link and offer nothing in terms of commentary or analysis. This is standard fare for you, and it is completely unacceptable behavior (it could be considered spam under the new rules). If you want to post, you will need to post with some kind of discernable angle from you that can be discussed by this board. Otherwise, don't say a thing.
And just so you can't say that I singled you out, there were more individualized responses against other posters, including Oatie. This was done because in my mind there is a big issue with how certain things in the forums were handled, which for the record, I will repeat myself again:
First off, thank the Gods I don't have your job. Because of that, I don't know when the topic got reported, though. Therefore, I cannot make a complaint about the topic being closed after two pages of zombie pictures. Now I think you made a critical mistake with admitting you laughed about all the zombie pics (and then seemingly approving of it through the use of emoticons). In essence, you've taken a side against XYZ in this affair, which is bad moderating (similar to the Cybercott issue). To me, even the appearance of impartiality is better than open partisanship.
So go ahead and post your next bitch consisting of something like "Why you haven't been banned is beyond me" or some other piece of meaningless tripe, XYZ. I know there won't be anything rational coming out of this. Either that or I will be warned for this post. In any event, I just don't care anymore regarding you (and yes, you can add that to your signature too, OK?).

Just thought I'd check. Seems like the ass end of the thread was mysteriously disappearing on all of us. (Big loss to humanity that was
) Anyway, I don't know how to explain the glitch in PunBB. I just know one when I see it.
