So far, I've been pretty accurate with what he's against: corruption of youth and killing of cops. Besides, what do you think he'll do about "Douchenut"?
Oh, I guess I should add in that, if you wear red and give $10k to charity, he'll come after you for extortion... somehow...

When asked about why 'Douchenut' their leader merely responds “intuition” and based on that sheer absence of logic in that explanation the underlings assume their new leader has a higher form of logic that is merely incomprehensible to them due to their unworthiness and serve him in awe.

Re: Jack "Douchenut" Thompson writes an open letter to the ESA.
The amount of verbal diahrea that came out of that guy in that short letter is too much for me to handle, the comparisons he made, the statements he... stated... were the most inane pieces of junk I've ever read.
However the two comments I will offer:
He compared the ESA to Jihadists, this shows how much he knows.
"Trained to kill by playing Doom?" give me a break.
The reason why the ESA president won't debate with this moron is because that would give him some credibility.

Seattle police pass on Penny Arcade flap
Florida lawyer's harassment allegations considered a civil matter on the surface, criminal investigation still possible
Web comic Penny Arcade made headlines last week when it was the subject of an angry complaint letter sent to the Seattle Police Department alleging organized harassment and extortion. In his letter, Florida attorney Jack Thompson said he looked forward to working with the police "to shut this little extortion factory down and/or arrest some of its employees."
However eager Thompson may be for that, it doesn't look likely to happen anytime soon. A representative with the police department told GameSpot today that it hasn't found any crime to prosecute in the matter.

Re: Jack "Douchenut" Thompson writes an open letter to the ESA.
I particularly liked this piece:
"What it boils down to is often a minimum wage store associate in a big store environment checking out a consumer with a line of 12 people waiting. That person is checking out everything from laundry detergent to movies and games. A register prompt says 'check for ID' but the associate may not know why, or may not have the time or someone in the line complains. There are a host of practical issues. And it's worth noting that they are not being asked to check for ID for an R rated DVD.
" I think most stores have implemented policies but it all boils down to execution."
You know, since I used to work retail at a store that specializes in movies and games. That hit the nail on the head. Parents need to know what they're buying for their kids, but stores need to have some policy in place, and it doesn't make sense to ask for ID on an M game and not on an R movie (even though you're supposed to show ID to get into an R movie at the theaters).
So stores really really need to pick up some slack and start being responsible about the aspects that are under their control. I, even as just a lowly shift manager and cashier, would talk about ratings with the customers and try to help them find something suitable for their kids, and got lots of complements and good customer reports as a result.

"Cop killer" game to get January release
Thompson ain't gonna like that
By Marc McEntegart: Thursday 03 November 2005, 10:48
AFTER BEING bumped back due to a "business review", Eidos has announced that controversial "cop killing" videogame 25 to Life will be released on January 18th, 2006.
In September, Eidos announced that the game would suffer delays due to its new ownership by SCi Entertainment. On the 11th of October Jack Thompson contacted us saying that: "I have received word in the last two days from a credible source that Eidos has decided never to release 25 to Life." Unfortunately for Thompson, the source appears to have been wrong.
...
While the claims of Eidos' head of communications that he knew nothing of either this cancellation or Jack Thompson had seemed defensive at the time, it certainly seems as though 25 to Life will see the light of day. We can quote Thompson as having said of 25 to Life, "If they haven't pulled it, we're gonna sue their butts." We will contact him as soon as it is less unseemly to interrupt his sleep. µ

Jack Thompson Withdraws from GTA Case
Controversial attorney recuses himself amid ethics allegations.
by Wade Steel
November 8, 2005 - Controversial Miami-based attorney Jack Thompson has withdrawn from an Alabama lawsuit amid allegations that he violated legal ethics rules.
The lawsuit, Strickland vs. Sony, was filed against retailers and publishers of the Grand Theft Auto series. Thompson had previously been representing the case's plaintiffs -- the families of a pair of police officers and a police dispatcher who were murdered by Devin Moore, who claimed that the GTA games helped "train" him to kill. Moore was convicted of the crime and sentenced to death.
Thompson's withdrawl follows a motion by filed by Blank Rome, the defendents' law firm, that Thompson be removed from the case as well as have his license to practice law in Alabama revoked for ethical lapses such as "attacking and threatening" the Blank Rome attorneys as well as accusing the firm of conspiracy. According to Blank Rome's Jim Smith, Thompson "[couldn't] proceed with the civility the rules require. All lawyers have to conduct themselves with honesty, integrity and civility. This isn't a street fight."
Thompson spent much of last Thursday defending his conduct in front of Judge James Moore, the case's presiding judge who also presided over the criminal trial of Devin Moore (no relation). When Judge Moore asked Thompson to explain some of the statements made in the press releases, Thompson replied, "I'm not pretending I'm not a nice guy. I'm not pretending I don't have a temper."

The reason he has withdrawn as counsel is widely believed to be clearing the way for him to testify as an expert witness. Low standards, don't you think?

This is great stuff, and I love his response. This remind anyone else of when Joseph McCarthy finally flew off the handle and went after the Army and got creamed on nationally televised hearings? Same stuff here. Thompson is now using his same old bullying and smear techniques on a damn JUDGE! How stupid can he get? Hopefully this is truly the beginning of the end for him. although, like Penny Arcade, I can't help but worry if his replacement will actually be competent.

Jack Thompson publishes book to promote anti-videogame cause
Notorious anti-videogames campaigner Jack Thompson has published a new book aimed at encouraging parents to join his crusade against violence in the media.
Titled Out of Harm's Way, the book's cover bills it as the story of "One man's relentless crusade to topple media giants and save your children from videogame madness."
"Jack, an outraged father and activist lawyer, is on a mission to protect children from the violent and obscene video games, music lyrics, shock jock radio shows, and television programs he says are creating a culture of violence and degradation," reads the back cover.
"Going beyond outrage, Thompson chronicles his own spiritual journey from bystander to activist and offers the sociological, medical, scientific, and legal evidence that will motivate all Americans - especially parents - to get involved."
Thompson's book has yet to top the bestsellers' list, with an Amazon sales ranking of 36,356 and average reader rating of just one star.
$19.99.
