'Display Preferences' stored in a cookie, not the DB
Can these preferences be stored in the database instead of a cookie? I have to change the preference for every computer and/or browser I log into the forums with and it's kinda annoying.

Re: 'Display Preferences' stored in a cookie, not the DB
Well, each browser on each computer. If I happen to use Safari, Mozilla, and Chimera to browse the forums on my OS X Mac, I have to set it in each of the three browsers. I normally use two browsers on two different machines each at work, there's another four times. If I happen to be at the library or somewhere else, the setting isn't carried over.
It would be a real pain if everyone had to reset their signature at each computer they use to browse the forums, no?

Well, if you want a different signature, you do. As for browsers ... i only have one primary, and one back up which is rarely used, so this isn't a big deal to me.

Re: 'Display Preferences' stored in a cookie, not the DB
The reasoning behind the cookie and not db config is that your preferences are determined by the computer your on. If your at work you might want to turn everything off to make things more stealthy, but if your at home you might want everything turned on. Or it could be the opposite--you've got a fast connection at work and enjoy everything on, but at home your still stuck with a slow connection and want the minimal stuff. Either way you store it, either by cookies or db, it won't satifsy everyone. I suppose the best would be to store defaults for a user in the database and have those overridable by cookies, but I simply don't have the time to mess with this currently. And since it works fairly well as it is, it's not a high priority for me. Perhaps when I have some more time..
Hard work may not kill you, but why take chances?
