Won't work.
I had a crack happen spontaneously in my old Diablo 2 LoD disk. Nothing I tried fixed it.
Hopefully you'll be able to find a good deal on another copy of Halo, though. Sorry to hear about this one's death.

Yep. Never try to repair a cracked disc or even recover data; I had one explode in the drive doing that.
Halo PC, $20 anywhere. Mac Halo I think currently at $30.

OverPower Weekend has BEGUN! I've reset the server to do 3 rounds of Blood Gulch on OverPower, followed by a round of NMC.
You can download both maps from either here or here. The NMC map should work. Unfortunately, in the aftermath of my reformatting, I still haven't reinstalled Halo, so I've yet to test this out and make sure the gametypes work, or that the OP map I used is the right one (we've got too many). Please go forth and test this out, and report back immediately if there are any problems so I can try other maps and get this right before I leave town.

If you want to get a replacement disc just call Macsoft, they will send you a free replacement, no charge. Don't have to buy a new copy.

Server is back up. Windows did an auto-update, and rebooted itself, but it doesn't auto-login to restart the servers, so I just logged it in and got things started. Should be fine now.

screw that. my connection scripts for my modem are fine. either my ISP hates me, my modem is dead/bad, or halo is broken. I can't get around the fact that randomly in any game whether it happens immediately or not, my upload stream goes biseark. Ever hear of a v.92 modem hittin an upload of 170KB/sec? I certaintly haven't , but my upload stream jus gradually gets high and higher and lag gets bigger and bigger. Once I get my HDs back from repair (one is dead, the other is the target drive) I'm doing a clean wipe and install of everything on my system. BTW, it only happens with halo so I have no clue what the smurf is wrong.

I've heard of that! Infact the v.92 protocol supposidly supports a max of 300KB I believe. Years back a friend I knew had a dad who knew how to make their own modem scripts/etc. With them they were able to take these regular modems and tweak them well beyond what the regulations allow. The bandwith is there but theres regulations which limit the speeds which consumers can accuire.

Don't know where the server went but still fun on CTF3. Was somewhat relaxing poppin heads off again and hunting snipers across the maps. Sorry bout droppin that hog on top of ya Digital 
. Kinda nuked it and it's crew then it fell over the side
