The entire roof of DIA is made of 15 acres of Teflon-coated, woven fiber glass. The same material is on the inside as a layer, also. The place looks like a bizarre (but kind of cool) scene out of "Dune", comprised of huge, spiked tent-like structures. The material reflects 90% of the sunlight and doesn't conduct heat.

o and btw, google earth for mac is nice.  Looks like they finally listened to our complaints.

I wouldn't say complaints - at least I hope you weren't complaining.  Google has always been pro-OS X.  Since Google Earth started there has been a snipet on the site declaring a future Mac version.

Also, I'm planning a trip to Minneapolis, and I'm checking out exactly where I'll be.  This is too cool.  No more getting lost!

Google has lots of software that's PC only (Earth, talk, etc.).  It really wouldn't kill them to just write an executable file for Mac instead of Windows.  All the other code stays the same.

Writing that executable isn't just a matter of flipping a compiler switch. Especially for Google Earth it's a real programming effort.

I'm currently using GoogleTalk with iChat, and we have the alpha of Earth.  What more do you want?

I guess that's right.  Earth would be a tough cookie, given the complexity of its java.  It is java, right?  But that said, they should not have this problem with their other apps.  I have yet to come across a mac user who would actually want and use picassa, given we have iPhoto and Spotlight and a very easily navigated finder, but it would be good to know that it is Mac compatible.

I wouldn't even call this the alpha version, given its quantity of bugs.

Re: Google Earth, eh?

Why would they make Mac version of their app that no one would use?

They may be rolling in cash, but they'd like to stay that way.

Re: Google Earth, eh?

Google is more or less making anything they conceive of in their labs available to the public to try and play with.  Since this is the case, it is only legit that they would also make it for mac.  Like I say, just to play with.
