Clean up, Clean up, everybody everywhere....

What is the best way to clean an iBook? I've had it for a year, and haven't found a good way too clean it. The trackpad and keyboard is getting yellowish, and the screen has streaks. I've tried veeeery slightly damp washcloth, for the keyboard and trackpad, but it didn't get it enough, and the trackpad was wacky for a few hours afterwards. Do the comercial products work well enough, I'd be willing to pay a few bucks for a clean iBook, or is there something around the house that should work?

Thanks

Re: Clean up, Clean up, everybody everywhere....

I personally use and love the Monster Screen Clean product.  It is called iClean at the Apple Stores, but Radio Shack also sells it.

I use it on every surface of my PowerBook, and it makes it look and feel like new.  I also use it on my iMac G4.

Don't listen to anyone who uses Windex.  It will damage the computer.

I use it too. Very good product. I use it on my PowerBook and the home G4 iMac.

Damp paper towel. But it looks as though, I don't use my iBook as much as you.(Have mine for about 18 months)

Well of course God made Adam first; he was the beta version.

I'll try the paper towel, and if that doesn't work, I'll go with the iClean stuff.
Thanks for the great responses everyone!

Re: Clean up, Clean up, everybody everywhere....

Follow-up and cleaning guide:

Screen: Fold a few paper towels and dampen one side. Sweep the wet side across the screen in a regular motion. Then use the other side to dry it, using the same sweeping motion. Make sure to go right to the edge, the recessed screen makes the edges and corners hard to reach.

Trackpad and area below keyboard: This is the easiest part to clean, just rub with a paper towel. HOWEVER, the trackpad gets weird for an hour or so after it is cleaned, so time your cleaning accordingly.

Keyboard: Fold a paper towel like you did for the screen, and wipe across the keys. It is important to use a folder paper towel, a wad will catch on the keys.

Outer Casing: Here I used window cleaner, and just wiped it down, which worked well

This is all a bit obvious, but I thought I'd post what I found out.

Cool, I have plenty of time to clean my iBook, as I left my powerbrick at my grandparents house and I can't get it back until I go later next week.
Now I'm stuck with the family iMac. Not that there is anything wrong with it, its just not my computer.

Re: Clean up, Clean up, everybody everywhere....

if you buy the monster clean (thats name of it) it comes with a much bigger bottle of the same stuff on the iclean, and it comes with a non static cloth to use on your computer. It is usually found in a home theatre department at a big box store like future shop, circuit city, best buy... etc I use this product. ive had mine for about 9 months and clean it regularly, and the bottle still isnt half empty... Cost is 39.99 CAD

I used it on a iMac G4.  It worked well.  Not "Magic" but well.

I use Endust for Electronics Anti-Static Wipes.  Does the job.  Cheap.  WalMart sells it.
