Every time you drive a car in SF, God kills a kitten...It just isn't worth it, especially in downtown.  You'd be wise to leave your car parked and use Muni to get most anywhere you want to go outside walking range.  Fare is $1.50 and transfers from the subway to streetcar to bus.

If you want to be the first to see the new machines in person and meet up with friends, i can understand, but if you don't care about those things, then you aren't missing anything more than  convention center room full of vendors trying to sell their stuff to you.

They also sell 1-day, 3-day, and 7-day Muni passes.  I think it's worth it because I don't have to look for change every time I need to get somewhere.  The pass is good for buses, cable cars, and subways.

Actually, i'm not. I have 2 badges sitting right here. I have a car. I've been before. I don't feel like going. Sure, it's  kinda nice to go at least once, but for those that can't go because of distance, they really aren't missing a lot, and the expense some people pay to go is just ridiculous.

I think for many, it is about getting together with other mac-heads, especially with those you've already met in the various forums.

No.  Just about every company known to man gives out passes.  If you google "free macworld pass" you will find several hits.  They may *retail* for 25$ (or more, closer to the event) but anybody who pays to go doesn't know what they're doing.

Well, I had to fly back today, so I am now done with this years MacWorld.  Rosetta is slow.  With PhotoShop, doubly so.

Well, tomorrow's my day off from work, so I'll be going for a good chuck of the day  ( thanks to fido for hanging out the scant half-hour I was able to go yesterday ).
