Re: Did Steve Jobs bitch-slap Adobe?
I don't think Steve was taking a jab at Photoshop. He was just saying that PS is always slow on any system, so that the media wouldn't interpret the long loading time as Rosetta being slow. The main part of that demonstration was the King Kong poster, not the loading time. He even said PS on Rosetta wouldn't be good enough for professionals, but should be fine for casual users.
Oddly, this is familiar to you...

Re: Did Steve Jobs bitch-slap Adobe?
Wow, I was reading through this, being serious and all, then I realized that all anyone is doing in this situation is analyzing every word steve says on a gold feather balance.
Some people are just overanalyzing. Him using adobe might have had some deep meaning, but come on people, this definetely is not a bitch slap. What's a bitch slap is the intel commercial
pure pwnage.

Just because something is legal, doesn't mean it's right. Just because something is illegal, doesn't mean it's wrong.

Re: Did Steve Jobs bitch-slap Adobe?
Steve took tons of jabs at adobe with their slow transition during the infancy of X during one particular early keynote during those times. I think it was more of a fun teasing thing to promote competition/motivation for Adobe to pick up the slack. The same thing was done for InDesign. It worked and will work again as there is money to be made, lots of money.

That commercial rules.
I think his comment was more of a passing one. It's funny to see one of the little frustrations we all face play out in a situation like the Keynote. Even so, Photoshop seemed to load faster than it ever did for me.
(nevermind that the last time I had it was on a Pentium II Dell, hehe)

Re: Did Steve Jobs bitch-slap Adobe?
Indeed
In fairness to Steve while it was obvious he was a bit frustrated with Adobe's progress he was handling very well (hence his use of playful jabs in a hope to speed them up rather than wholesale bitching about the issue). Once loaded, Photoshop looked quite fast to me though a bit laggy compared to most of the other stuff he demonstrated.

No, that would be stupid of them.

I would rather beat my PowerBook with a monkey wrench. That is what it would do to performance.
Sorry, I refuse to buy a Dual 2.0 G5 with 2GB of RAM just to run Photoshop.

Re: Did Steve Jobs bitch-slap Adobe?
Adobe's support of Apple has been slipping over the last few years, as evidenced by what happened with Premiere and such.
Why should we care if Adobe doesn't make Premiere for Mac anymore? Final Cut Pro is better, right?
I ask honestly because I've never used Premiere. I always assumed FCP was the industry standard non-linear video editing software.
Mac Pro 2.66 ghz Quad Core - 9 GB RAM - Mac OS X 10.6.2 & 10.5.8
MacBook Pro 2.4 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo - 4 GB RAM - Mac OS X 10.6.2
G4 MDD Dual 1.25 ghz - 2 GB RAM - Mac OS X 10.5.8

I'm not arguing that. I'm just showing a trend. Premiere wasn't the first and it might not be the last. I think that fact is one of many reasons Apple is switching to Intel.

It didn't even exist until OS 9 I think (correct me if I'm wrong). Until then, we had Adobe ruling the roost. When Adobe saw there was competition, they dropped the ball and stopped all support.

I think Scriffy means that it will be easier to optimize for Intel for Mac and PC rather than optimize for Intel and a PPC processor.
