safari pisses me off

safari is the biggest pos i ever seen in my life. I know alot of die hard mac fans use it and some even like it.  The only browser yet i have found yet to even come close to being decent is netscape. I want to beg microsoft or apple  to make a hot browser that has features that fits 2005 thanks.

Don't count on microsoft making any mac browser, ever again.

Re: safari pisses me off

Safari is basically unusable on our work computers. They're not sure if it's the Tribune's firewall or what, but it ALWAYS quits. So we use Firefox (thanks to me, from thanks to you guys here on the board)

I asked for an alternative browser a while ago and most of you suggested Firefox. It worked better in both 9 and X.

Re: safari pisses me off

Yeah. Firefox.

My dad uses Opera, he thought Firefox was too hard to customize. I have no idea what he's talking about, since I've never tried to customize it anyway.

Default installs are easy - you lose less time when you need to format your Windows partition. big_smile

Of the literally 21 different browsers I have used to date, Camino is my favorite and Firefox is a rather close second. IE is garbage.

Re: safari pisses me off

I love Safari, but it chokes on a couple of websites that I use through work.  But I chalk that up to poor coding and relying on IE specific features... not a problem with Safari.

Re: safari pisses me off

One thing that I don't like about Safari is that you can now only save web bitmaps to your designated download folder. If you want to change to location you have to change it in your preferences. Previously, you could select "Browse" and set the location for one time on the fly.

I have to do this every month in order to get band photos for a music newsletter - I always forget and end up downloading a bunch of stuff in my newsletter folder.

Hold down option key when control clikcing an image? It'll change "Save image to [your download folder]" to "Save image as…".

(I'm not quite sure I understand what you want o do though)

That's it!

I was hoping someone would have an answer - I really like Safari. Unbelievable that they would shuffle such a useful feature off onto option-key obscurity.

2006. Netscape 8.1 is out, and it's been based on the same core as Mozilla since, iirc, v.6.

The only problem I have with safari is it hangs up when browsing myspace.com. Other than that I love it.

Private Browsing is cool! It works when you're browsing Amazon for surprise b'day and anniv. presents for the wife too. She is kind of nosy and always tries to figure out what I'm getting her.

Netscape 7 is available now - and includes a recent Mozilla engine comparable to Firefox.
Some banks will allow Netscape 7 but reject Firefox or Mozilla.
