No big loss.It was written and created by Joss Whedon, who, apart from being the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, wrote the screenplay for Toy Story (and possibly Toy Story 2, but I don't remember). He's a fantastic writer, and his sharp writing, detail, and wit were all over the Firefly series. The acting, writing, and character development were leaps and bounds above crappy syndicated shows a la Hercules, Xena, Andromeda, and She Spies.
If you knew chinese you'd be laughing at the way they (mis) pronounce all those 'chinese swear words' - of which mostly aren't even swear words at all!
e.g. literally translated "Shut up your buttocks" really really cracked me up, and it's mostly used by just kids to insult other kids. there are BETTER swear words than those...
Anyway, I loved the show, i have the DVD and it's really far better than the syndicated stuff. It also reminded me of a japanese anime called 'CowBoy Bebop' as I'm sure is the inspiration for FireFly.
