Movie Poster
I'm posting on the off-chance that any of you work at a theatre and can tell me how I might get my hands on one of the posters they hang up as a gift. What happens to the posters after the movies are out of theatres? Is there anywhere I can buy them besides ebay? (I'm looking specifically for the spongebob movie posters with "Big Evil" and "Big Romance")
Any insight would be much appreciated. Even if you can't help, knowing what happens that that material would be... worthless actually. Interesting, though!

Re: Movie Poster
You see the problem is that those two posters are everywhere, but they are not the ones I want. The ones I was looking for are the "Big Evil" and "Big Romance" ones. I know the're on ebay (I'm biddong on a few right not) but I was wondering if maybe there was a more direct method that any of you knew about.

Make friends with a theater manager.
Sometimes video stores also get those big posters as well.
Um, have you ever walked in to th theater and ASKED about the posters?

Re: Movie Poster
Actually making friends with a manager would be exactly the thing to do. I called up the local theatre and they said that they used to give away posters, until people started selling them on ebay. Now only employees get to keep them. So... Anybody here work at a theatre?

I use a mop in a really, really small theater...

Re: Movie Poster
Seriously - buddy up to someone in management at the theater.
At the theater I worked at the owner NEVER got rid of his posters - just kept em in a store-room somewhere. He used to give them to employees who asked - until they started cropping up on eBay. Now he hogs em for himself.
I've seen the manager give a couple away to good employees though, despite the owner's instructions not to.

Actually befriending and bribing the theatre managers works like a dream. If they see you at their theatre a lot, more often than not they will work with you.
Ive had tremendous success gettin my Samuel L Jackson,Uma posters this way.
Ive had great luck on EBay gettin the hard to find, big chain promotional ones.

Re: Movie Poster
There are a lot of movies I'd love to have posters for, but I don't have the space. So the only one I have is for One Hour Photo bought off eMerchandise.com.
Full size. Mirrored on the back side.

Re: Movie Poster
amazon.com has a poster shop. To get there go to amazon's home page and put movie posters in the search window. When you click go it will take you to a page showing a few movie posters and a link to Poster Shop.
When you get to Poster Shop it shows a few of the current best-sellers and you can select various movie genres such as animation science fiction whatever. This gives you a display of posters with the price and a thumbnail view and a few other details.
Some might be originals, some are reprints, and prices go from$7.99 to over $20.
Happy hunting.
