TIGHT! Tell me how it is! I've always loved Flogging Molly, but the one time they came here was during exams, so I couldn't go. I hear that they put on a truly awesome show.

Re: Emo Discussions
Sorry, I took a little hiatus from MAF to look at colleges.
Every Time I Die was pretty smurfing awesome:
*Haste The Day was not as good as they were with their old singer. It's like a totally different sound now.
*Between The Buried and Me is now my favorite grindmetalcore band. The break downs are sick, and the technical stuff rocks hard.
*Where do I even start with Every Time I Die? Every single song was AMAZING. We had a wall to wall pit going, which is impressive considering Rcktwn's size. Everyone was moshing or dancing, and the singer was so impressed that he started a "That Was Awesome" chant for us. Because we were awesome. The highlight was definitely the breakdown at the very end of Ebolarama, when the entire 2500 in the venue just started going nuts. Everyone was moving, it was just indescribably insane.
*Bleeding Through was kind of a meh. I only wanted to hear 1 song by them, and the rest of their crap didn't impress me. I mean, its like they took Throwdown and metaled it up.
Also, I just got home from a CD release party for my favorite local band. Look up They Said We Were Ghosts if you're into a metalcore band that's much more core than metal. /pimp

Re: Emo Discussions
I just saw:
Hit the Lights - a yuppie new found glory-type punk band, with an unusually long set for an opening local band. But whatever, it didn't matter.
Amber Pacific - perhaps worse than the opening band, but it was hard to tell. The most interesting part of the set was how similar their vocalist looks like the guy from Relient K. And their bassist was trying some guitar flips, which was funny to watch.
and then...
CHIODOS!!! The set opened with a man in a gorilla suit come on stage with a microphone, saying that if it weren't for a man named Yohan Sebastian Bach, none of us would be here today. He then started a Yo-Han chant, and then told us to shut the smurf up. And he danced for a little bit, and then he welcomed Chiodos. And they came out.
Being the only screamo-esque band of the night, I didn't know what to expect. They were the reason that my friend and I went to see them in the first place, but after the first two yuppie band I didn't know how the crowd was going to react.
Let me just say that Chiodos played one of the best sets I have ever seen. Their audio quality seemed as good if not better live than it did on their debut album All's Well That Ends well. I was highly impressed, because this can be quite difficult for a band that relies heavily on synth and quick guitar riffs (compared to Still Remains, a band with a similar intstrument make up, Chiodos sounded ten times better, and I like Still Remains too!).
The crowd responded well although there was only a very small pit. The venue goes insane about keeping people safe because there have now been multiple sXe stabbings there, so this guy came in with his shirt off and after a couple intentional windmill kicks to someone elses face, he got grabbed and carted off by security, and for half the Chiodos set everyone else was too afraid to dance. But before that it was great.
The Early November was next. I don't really like them too much, but I was impressed with their set. They were a lot of fun. Their bassist did a 10 foot stage dive off a speaker stack and nearly crushed a group of the crowd, but it was pretty impressive. I wouldn't go to a show to see them again, but I did think that they played good. And to get that impression after seeing Chiodos play so well, they must have been pretty good.
Matchbook Romance played next, but I've seen them before a couple times, so it wasn't worth staying for. They aren't very good live, although I do like their new CD. Kinda. So we left before they started.
Metric plays tomorrow night. I am very tempted to go. Mmmmm.

I saw Underoath and As Cities Burn at Warped tour yesterday. They were really good.
But the band that took it all was Every Time I Die. Of course, I would not have gone if they weren't playing, but they still impressed me with how much energy they had on stage.
I'm going to Sounds of the Underground too. Wow. Trivium, Horse the Band, The Chariot, In Flames, basically the top 10 metalcore bands all on one tour. Should be fun.

Re: Emo Discussions
HORSE the band canceled their date here. It made many people angry.
But!!!
We get something better next month:
HeavyHeavyLowLow
The Jonbonet
The number 12 looks like you
and
Fear Before The March of Flames.
all the kids are wetting themselves for this show. We've also got As Cities Burn's last show in Nashville to look forward to, and Warped this Wed., but there is no one extremely impressive at this stop that I haven't seen. Except for NOFX, which I'm really excited for.

How was the show? I've wanted to see them in concert for a few years now, but never had a chance. Hopefully they'll come to the bay area, and I can catch them then... or somewhere else in California. I've listened to their music on & off on Napsterlinks, and I guess I become amazed as to how they write a couple of their good songs. What's your favorite song by them? Mine is "Salty Dog."

read the thread.
We've been through this before. I'm not going to give my gigantic rant on emo history. Yes, it is an actual genre, and yes it did exist before Green Day, Kelly Clarkson, and even 50 Cent. So, assuming you can indeed read, go back a couple of pages and read the rest of this thread. Somewhere in there is a nice long discussion mentioning bands like Fungazi, Indian Summer, and Rites of Spring.
You might just lean something.

Oh, look, it's a horrendously written post that is so bunched up together that I don't want to take the time to understand it.
A quick skim proves that you haven't read the thread, though. You're one big smurfing tool. Read before you post.
