Why does Mail suck every 34 days ? I mean, WTF ?
It seems like every 30 days or so Mail goes ape smurf and shreds all my settings,
or screws the proces of using keychainaccess to push the passwords to servers.
Directly afterwards, the damned thing deletes random emails from my local copy.
I've Tried to remove all the mail settings, but the sonofabitch app always has blah@gmail, foo@gmail and other settings afterwards.
I HAVE TO MAKE ANEW DAMNED USER IN ORDER TO FIX IT EVERY MONTH.
mac os 10.4.6
mail 2.0.7
one pissed user
I've noticed ALOT of other people having similar weird issues with Mail. Is apple even listening tothe issues ?
Could someone please tell me where the hell the settings are so I can shred every damned one and start fresh again ?
I've removed ~/Library/Mail so many times and nothing changes. WTF is with mail sucking ass every 30 days ? :\

Re: Why does Mail suck every 34 days ? I mean, WTF ?
Thanks for moving it to the proper location. I'm more calm now, after spending a couple hours making a new account, preferences, mail, blah, etc.
Yes, the plist was trashed. It came back with the same autofilled text whenever I try on the old account. I also rm'd Library/Mail/POP-uername/MessagesALreadyDownloaded2.
I gave up on it.
Now since I've made a new account, mail thinks all my mail is 'old' which it is really, but I want all those 'old' messages downloaded again. How can I force Mail to download ALL the mail from my working (again) accounts ?
thanks- calmer but still resentfull of mail's annoyance.

That change would have to be made on the source server. You should be able to make that change, but the ease of it depends on who you are using. Look for "mark as unread" or similar on the server gui.

Mailbox menu -> Rebuild
Works for me every time (not that I do it often).

Such problems aren't normal, are they? Mail never seems to give me any problems.

I hope not; after years of using webmail clients, just yesterday I decided to start using Mail and keeping everything on my machine. I spent a fair bit of time d/l-ing everything and sorting it out. Yikes!

I know a lot of people use entourage (I used to), but I switched to mail and it's been just fine for me.

I have never had a single issue with Mail since the OS X Public Beta when I first started using it.
If it keeps happening, I would archive and install OS X.

Mail doesn't give me problems either, but if it ever did and I couldn't get it corrected, Thunderbird is the next best thing.
