Very cool. Nothing beats getting out into the field and getting your hands dirty first-hand and seeing a world most people won't experience outside of a 30-second news bite on their daily news, if that. I'm glad you're a two-fisted man of action and not some kind of limp-wristed dork.
Bon voyage!

I'll be far from Accra. But there will be Internet where I'll be, so hopefully I can stay connected with the planet, maybe even post some photos.

I'm not expecting much in the way of doing good. At least not in any kind of measurable material way.

Thanks, man! And I still want to pay a return visit to the gulf coast -- for longer this time, if the DHS will let me.

I'd bet you will find your services needed there just as much as your last visit. Won't be much different, including still less 'chocolate' than before the storm.
(And, you'll only have EMA to thank. They just renamed that agency so as to take out Fed affilliation/blame.)
DHS? You're not going to Indiana. No worries.
2.3 - What are "Blanks"?
Blanks are people who have either fallen off the information nets, or taken themselves off deliberately. Usually known and addressed by their first names with "Blank" as a title - Blank Reg, Blank Bruno, and Blank Dom(inique) are three we get to know well.

Re: A farewell to Shnicky
If he stays safe he'll only have boring stories to bring back.
I want tales of headhunters and cannibals, wars with neighboring tribes, accidently getting married to the chiefs daughter, snakes in the outhouse.
I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc., I called the Suicide Lifeline. I got a call center in Pakistan, and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck.

But, but whatever shall I do for news?
May you have safe journeys (there and back) and many wonderful tales to recount when you get back, ShnickShnack.

Have a safe trip. If you get to Cameroon, you may run into a relative of mine doing medical and educational work.
