Keira Knightly wasnt hot at all, she looked like a little boy.
well, duh. didn't you get the (woman on a ship) = (bad) thing? it's featured in both movies so far. she was just in disguise, and then didn't have a chance to change clothes.
and Keira is always hot. it's her facial structure. doesn't really matter how she's dressed. did you see the crap she was wearing in King Arthur?I agree. Yeah shes a bit too skinny, but shes incredibly hot. Its her face, like you said.
She got a rise out of me a few times, despite the sailor-boy outfit...
I saw it last night, and I agree that it was too much stuffed into one movie. They had tons of great ideas for action sequences, and they crammed them all into 2 hours. The Davy Jones crew effects were spectacular!

First it didn't work for Jack which wasn't 'splained,
then it worked for Whozit, then it didn't, which was 'splained seconds later, but almost too fast to catch.
And why exactly, was getting ahold of it important to the British Officer Gone Bad? Besides rescuing his reputation and getting his rank back? Why did the DEICo want it so bad? I think that sub-plot line was just to fullfill the actor's contract and give him something to do between sword fights.
What hot girl? Oh, it must be the only female lead. I think she was only playing him at the end to get him to stay on the Pearl, but there is the classic 'bad boy' appeal, that she resists.
Didn't you notice who shackled whom to the ship in that scene? That was why Cpt Jack smiled at her and said "Pirate."

Yes, she distracted him with her feminine wiles while shackling him to the Pearl, in order to keep him on the ship. It was an underhanded, conniving thing to do to get what she wanted - a very 'pirate' attitude.

Just to clear it up, what was the deal with the compass the entire movie? The hot girl wants Captain Jack Sparrow?

She wanted him to go down with the ship is what she wanted.
Jeff-o nailed it. There was just too much going on too fast.
On the other hand, some of the various 'escape' scenes could have been curtailed. All that rolling around - I got impatient with it.

I agree. Lots of great stuff in the movie, but too much bloat. Not all sequels have to be "bigger! faster! more!" Hollywood just doesn't seem to get this.
I liked the stuff with Bootstrap Bill, and I liked the concept and implementation of the Flying Dutchman and its crew. I was also impressed with how they wrote Norrington back into this script.
This really did seem more like a "bridge" movie; the setup for the sequel was just TOO blatant. I mean, yes, we all know that PotC 3 will be out next summer, but there's no need to make the last 20 minutes of this movie a commercial for the next.
Overall, I give this one a B-

I haven't seen it yet, either...waiting for the DVD. And from the reviews that I've seen, it's pretty much typical for the 'middle movie' in a series...but I'll just be happy gazing at Johnny Depp! Normally I don't find him attractive, but he is something else playing this character!
Not sure if it's a rumor, can't remember where I've read it, but Keith Richards is supposed to play his father in the 3rd movie? Anybody else hear that?

*Spoiler*
Did anyone notice that the Voodoo Woman had an identical music box that Davy Jones had?

My girlfriend and I enjoyed it, but I believe that the first one was better. Besides, Jack Sparrow (the charactor) seems a little flamboyant to me.

I just hope they can release the 3rd one fast enough to where people don't lose their enthusiasm for it. Obviously the end was a deliberate hook, so why don't they use it?
