Re: Welcome, new members!
Thanks. Havent given up launching since June 2004. Oh smurf thats depressing.
Once we start, if we do, we'll really erm, "kick it up a notch"?
I get so depressed after i see these people with their 2,000 pc clusters with Dell Inspirons stacked up to the 7th floor of their bulding with the ceilings cut in some apartment in Manhattan. Wellp, folding is still for a good cause!
Donate your spare CPU cycles to Folding@Home. You never know when you'll be in need.

Welcome: me
Giving it a tentative 1st try.
"After all, it's not that awful, in Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed - they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Re: Welcome, new members!
Welcome Greywolf. At any one time, there are a couple hundred proteins under investigation by a couple hundred thousand computers worldwide.
Some info on Folding: Some proteins a lot bigger than others. Naturally your computer(s) may be a lot faster than others. So, when I say that my 220 point protein takes 3 weeks to analyze, please remember that my iMac is a 1 Ghz Lincoln Continental.
Are you running the "CLI" (Terminal) version or the "Graphical Client" version ? Either is fine. The CLI version is approximately 10 % faster, IIRC.
I'll keep an eye on the statistics charts for your appearance, probably on this page http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/ … 18&p=3

Re: Welcome, new members!
Ugh. Ok, so how do I transfer the work I was doing over to the CLI client then? Seems like the CLI client decided to start on a new one instead.
Also, can I quit the Core, or do I have to kill it, and will killing it save my progress?

Check back in the forum in a few hours. I'll post up my plan of action. A little more work at first for a smooth silent operation.

EDIT: ArtemisG3 and I have a couple new installers ready in the "Folding Software" thread.
I would not worry about the other Folding you've done so far. Enjoy the other thread and welcome to Folding@home Team 18 MacAddict4Life.
