Ghost CD images on desktop
I have had a problem with Toast Titanium. When I burn a cd or dvd sometimes a ghost cd or dvd will be left on the desktop. I assumed this was a problem with the finder seeing the blank media when inserted while toast was already taking care of it. A search led to a couple of questions about similar problems that were a cople of years old and no one had a difinitive answer. Okay, no big deal the ghost images eject and dissapear fine, I don't use Toast everyday anyway.
But here is my real question, I just got a 2GB flash drive and guess what? Every time I mount the drive a "Untitled CD" magically appears as well as the drive icon. Toast is not running only the finder so no conflict there. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks
By the way, the cd icon does not disappear from the desktop when I unmount the flash drive but does when I drag it to the trash.

Re: Ghost CD images on desktop
try formatting the flash drive using disk utility (Mac OS Extended if you only use it on macs, MS-DOS if you use it between Mac and PC)
back up the files on the flash drive first.
If that doesn't fix the problem, then I don't know what a fix would be personally (stopped using toast once I moved to intel, hurry up roxio!)

Download Yasu and check the "Clear System Cache","Clear User Cache", and "Repair Permissions" checkboxes. Yasu should automatically restart your Mac. It probably wouldn't hurt to check the daily, weekly, and monthly cron scripts as well.

Thanks for the suggestions but neither seemed to help. I erased and reformated with disk utility and also ran Yasu. Here is a screen shot of disk utility and the offending ghost disk.
Notice that the capacity is zero and the capabilities are CD-ROM CD-R

Weird. Not much help I know, but I can tell you that Sandisk partition their flash drives at source. That U3 partition is where they stick the PC tools they include with their drives. So if it's been formatted for Windows maybe a third party disk tool can bring it back to one partition, something Disk Utility is having problems with?
