Macbook delayed

I bought a macbook on September 18th, hoping to be able to take it on a trip that I leave for on the 26th. When I saw that the estimated shipping date was the 22nd, I called to upgrade to express shipping. But when the 22nd arrived, I got an email saying that it has been delayed to the 31st, too late for my trip. In the meantime, the ipod that I got with the student promotion has arrived. Their email gave me the option of canceling the order if I want to, but then I wouldn't get the rebate, I would have to return the ipod as well.

I am wondering if there would be an upgrade in macbooks or ipods before september 16th, the last day to use the back to school promotion. In that case, I might cancel the order and get another one right before the 16th (since I am going to be away now without the possibility of taking it with me). Otherwise I would just wait and have it delivered while I am away and enjoy it when I get back. I would have to change the shipping address though, since I will be out.

Any suggestions?

Shipping delays occur frequently with new products. I don't think the will be updating the Macbook quite that soon, and I have to say,... can I borrow your time machine? There are a few past mistakes I'd like to correct.

Re: Macbook delayed

Thanks for the link. I wish I had known sooner, maybe I wouldn´t have upgraded the memory now. Too late to undo it and reorder before August 26 anyway. Will have to wait till after my trip in late September.

Macbook's not a new product.

Appleinsider is reporting that Apple is selling Macbooks so fast they (or more accurately, the Chinese sweatshops) can't keep up with demand.

Re: Macbook delayed

It could also be a problem with Intel, I read somewhere that CoreDuo is selling like hot cake and Intel is having problem meeting demand.

Re: Macbook delayed

Yes, I too had to wait a bit longer for my Macbook. Then I was so embarrassed because it arrived at my school without me having any cash. Oh well, have it now. Just looking forward to being hooked-up to the internet next week
