PDF help please...

I'm trying to make a .pdf file from Illustrator that does not depend on the fonts present within the file.  Perhaps I'm missing something, but I'm doing musical scores where the rests all change characters once I save the file as a .pdf.

I need it in .pdf form to print on a better printer, so any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Re: PDF help please...

When you save, be sure that "Embed All Fonts" is checked, and it'ss beter if you do not subset the fonts.

If that still fails, then convert all of your fonts to outlines (select all, Cmd-Shift-O) then save as pdf.  But, if you do that, be sure to keep a version with the fonts intact if you need to edit it later.

Re: PDF help please...

I've noticed that Illustrator can be stubborn with some fonts. So if Illustrator won't embed the font, try copying the font to the Application Support/Adobe/Fonts/Reqd/ folder (location of the Application Support folder will depend upon what system you're on) and relaunch Illustrator. I've had to do that with a few fonts that would always revert to Myriad.

Thanks.  The embed all fonts thing didn't work, and I was stranded with a poor copy when I had to print.

The outline thing works great!  Thanks again.
