[MA]Angus the cat is no longer with us.

I tearfully wanted to let everyone know that my cat Angus died this morning and will no longer be sitting at my side as I play UT .

I want to get the word out that if you own a cat do not ever allow a lily plant of any type ever enter your home. If your cat eats even one leaf of that plant - he is going to die. That is what happend to Angus. My mother in law brought a Pink lily to my wife for Mother's day and Angus discovered it Tuesday by Friday it was too late to save him. If I had known how deadly they were for cats I wouldn't have let it in my house, but I didn't know and I didn't recognize the symptoms as his kidneys started shutting down. He passed this morning and I this is going to hurt me for a long time. I will continue to play UT and wear the [MA] tag, but I will be doing it solo from here on out. cry

Oh man, that's terrible. sad

Our orange tabby keeps me company on many a late night of fraggin' and even though I yell at him sometimes for getting me killed, he's the best companion.

Deepest condolences, and thanks for the reminder to keep things harmful away from the critters.

Awwww, Gates. I know you loved that cat dearly with just right. He was an amazing, beautiful animal.  I'm so terribly sorry for your loss.  *bear hug*

Are the kids handling losing a pet ok?  I had no idea lilies were poisonous for cats. Thanks for the warning, as you know we're a cat family, too.  Lots of love and support:

Awww bummer. You have my condolences as well.  Lilies are fatal to cats?  That's news to me. I'll have to remember that.

OHNOES!!!!!!!!1111!!!!

I'm so sorry to hear that. Thanks for the heads up on Lillys...wonder if they're just as poisonous for mutts.

Dammit now I wanna go back to the old posts and look at the few "Phear my kitty" threads that were started. More good stuff lost to Teh Crash.

Peace Bro...one day at a time. I imagine the MIL is taking it hard too.

Sorry to hear, Gator. Lost both parents, other close relatives & friends, and 3 cats the last few years. The last was 16 years old. It still hurts.

Re: [MA]Angus the cat is no longer with us.

After mentioning this to the Wife this evening, I got to Googling. Kinda scary how many things out there are harmful to our furry friends. (Including a deatiled account of Easter Lillies, damn them)

Out of respect to [MA]Gator, I'm not going to go overboard and post a bunch of links, but you'd all be wise to get a comprehensive list too, and keep the Emergency Numbers handy as well.

Re: [MA]Angus the cat is no longer with us.

I want to thank everyone for the support. This is a hard time for me and every little bit helps. Angus was my cat, but he was also a close friend. One that I could count on even when everything else in my life wasn't going well. He would be right at my side giving me unconditional love and making even bad moments seem not so bad. He loved sitting with me while I played hours and hours of UT. He will be missed always.

When I brought the news of his passing to you it was done with intention of getting the news out about lily plants and their horrible affects on our furry feline loved ones. I know that there are a lot of cat lovers here and the "My cat is cooler than your cat threads" were always fun for me. It also showed me I wasn't alone in holding admiration for a cat. Please get the word out to as many people as you can about what can happen when you mix your loved ones with the temptations of a plant or food item that seems harmless, but can be painfully deadly. I feel a lot of guilt not having known that this plant would kill my cat. I do not want others to be in my shoes. Tell the folks at work, tell anyone who will listen and maybe we can save people and pets a great deal of pain.

Keep taking care of that wonderful cat Atrox. Thanks for the condolences. I know that I enjoyed our countless cat threads. Angus was my buddy and the world is not going to be the same place for me since he isn't here any more. Cherish the moments because they go by quickly and always be on the look out for those things that your friend may need you to protect him from.

Thanks Noway. I still look for him every day and then reality sinks in sad   I found a lot of photos and video I took over the years of Angus. I don't think I will find another animal as loving and laid back as that cat, but he gave me 5 good years that I will never forget.

Oh dear - I just saw this.  Im so sorry!  Loss of a pet is just as bad as losing a person - they are such 'people' themselves.
May your kitty frolic in endless fields, track mice, chase butterflies, and lay around as much as he wants, in that kitty paradise in the sky.  *hug*

Re: [MA]Angus the cat is no longer with us.

5 years is a sadly short time to have him with you, but the longer they're around, the more it hurts when they leave. They're like family that way. Other ways too.

Keeping cats 35 years and more. You never get used to it. Time will help... slowly.

Being a cat fancier with three in the house now and a number of dear departed furry buddies (Tasha, Tiger Lilly and Snickers) you have my condolences Gator. Sorry I didn't see this earlier.
