Not bad, a worthy effort. 4/10.

Think it's a specific Sunday thing in the time and date protocols. Daylight savings time is always from the first Sunday in April & the last Sunday of October.

There will probably have to be an update for next year. Stupid government.

I somehow doubt that MS or Apple will release updates for older OS versions. Anybody using Panther, OS 9, Windows 98, etc. will have to set their clocks manually, then set them again when the DST code kicks in on the wrong date.

Donkey Butter is correct. In the Date and Time preference pane there is the option to Set date and time automatically. There are 3 options: Apple Americas/U.S. (time.apple.com); Apple Asia (time.asia.apple.com); Apple Europe (time.euro.apple.com). Select one of these and choose your time zone and the clock gets set automatically. The fact that your clock set itself when you were not connected to the internet I have no answer for, only that mine didn't nor any of the other guys that I worked with for all those years.

Anyone live in an area of the US that doesn't honor DST?  Did your clock change automatically?  I know Windows has the option of changing automatically, but, with OS X I haven't found the option.  Does OS X just assume it?

Never thought of that. Must be fun in Indiana!

You tell it where you live, of course.

And as of this year, those stubborn bits of Indiana are on board.

Oh come on. Steve and Santa. Just mentioning the two earns me a solid 5.

We change our clocks now.

There was an "indiana" setting prior to the change, though.

Was it county based, though? wink

Re: Macs Clock changes it's own time?

I have mine clock set to MST, closest city of Phoenix. Of course I don't have to worry about DST here in Arizona!!

Of course I also use time.nist.gov for my time server.
