How low can Bush's poll numbers go?

http://today.reuters.com/news/articlene … mp;src=rss

Just days after Democrats took over Congress, Americans embraced their top goals and President George W. Bush's job approval rating slid to 31 percent, according to a Newsweek poll issued on Saturday.

Bush's 31-percent job approval rating, down from 35 percent a week earlier, was a new low in Newsweek's polling.

Wow!  I guess no one wants to admit to backing a loser.  Is he headed to 20%?  Lower?  I mean, I can't imagine...

Wasn't there a study recently that claimed 30% of the population lacked the genes that allowed or brains to develop more superior than that of the neanderthals?

I guess we know who those 30% are...

If Congress is able to accomplish anything, Bush will no doubt get part of the credit and therefore a boost in the polls. If he stymies them, he'll suffer accordingly.

If Bush doesn't get his act together, he'll be the biggest gift to the Democrats since Herbert Hoover.

Every Republican presidential candidate for a generation will have to go out of his way to prove he's not a "George Bush."

Re: How low can Bush's poll numbers go?

I have no hope that Bush will change one bit. Some diety is in charge of his policy decidering.

By 'Jan '09,  Herbert Hoover will seem great in comparison.

(He'll end with at least 50 vetoes. Who can imagine how many MORE Constitutionally questionable 'signing statements?)

...and R's will run in '08 against a do-nothing/obstructionist 'liberal' Congress.

The partisan in me hopes Bush sticks to his guns. The patriot in me hopes he can dig down inside and find the ability to work with the Dems for positive solutions. Quite honestly I don't think he is capable of that. We have all seen him do the petulant man-child tantrum when he can't get his way.

Just to reiterate:

The patriot in me hopes W works with the majority for the good of the country. He just might even seem to do just that.

...then add a signing statement.

As for polling numbers: somewhere between Aug. '08 and Jan. '09 he'll have Cheney's numbers. High teens/low 20's.

I bet he gets a nice boost in % when he replaces Cheney with Jeb.

Once the investigations get into full steam, he'll dip into the low twenties, maybe the teens.

If properly done I think an investigation into the horrendous wast of money thru the contractor program in Iraq could really scuttle Bush. There are 10s of billions of dollars unaccounted for and Bush never put in place any oversight for those funds.
Bush handed his corporate cronies the keys to the treasury and just turned a blind eye.

Just a thought, albeit a tad conspiratorial, but "secret programs" tend to not show up in the accounting books.

If I weren't so insulted, I'd be ROFLMAO.
This was done with full knowledge and intent. What the LAW refers to as 'malice aforethought.'
The secret program was to use killing as an excuse to make money. And carry out some sick political idealogy.
I got yer secret program right here:
