Best RTS game? your thoughts
Hey all, I am not a big gameer. I have played civilization and rise of nations in the past. I was wondering what the new games are and whats the best of the new crop?
I have seen some cool games for PC, including Rome, total war and Rise of Legends.
I am specifially talking about this type of game. I appreciate your opinions.

Starcraft and Warcraft are RTS staples, if you've yet to play them.

Re: Best RTS game? your thoughts
Starcraft/Warcraft seem to me like they are D&D role playing games. I guess Im more interested in the "choose a nation and conquer the world by military and technology" type of RTS games.

If you can run Windows XP, Company of Heroes or Dawn of War (Esp Dark Crusade) are some of my favourite RTS' to date.

Re: Best RTS game? your thoughts
Starcraft is about as RPGish as the Original Doom is. Warcraft III does have some RPG qualities, but is still an RTS at it's core (and a great one at that!).

This tells me 1 of 2 things: either you have no idea what D&D role playing games are, or you've never played either of them. Starcraft is pretty much the gold standard of RTSs. (hell, it's still claiming lives in Korea
) Warcraft III is damn good, too.

Halo Wars. It's so immeasurably awesome, you can't even play it yet.

Re: Best RTS game? your thoughts
Check out Command & Conquer: Generals and the expansion pack Zero hour; Civilization 4 is also a great game, though with some hefty system requirements. If you have access to a PC or have boot camp, also give a look to Medieval 2: Total War, Age of Empires 3, and especially Company of Heroes, a WW2 RTS.
Alternatively, Warcraft 3 and Starcraft, with their respective expansion packs, are still good fun.

Cool! I'm going to have to give that a look, I hear it is even better than the first Medieval...
And for sportsguy, it is a pick your nation, take over the world kind of game.
