Re: Wii stake out - when are you heading into line?
Best Buy @ Warden/Eglinton in Toronto has 60 units in stock, with 10 people in line. I'm just going to pick one up tomorrow morning.

Good luck Booksley.
Ten hours until the store opens, with about 20-25ish people.

I haven't tried any Best Buys, maybe everyone is trying to be smart and going to places like Walmart and ShopKo instead of just going to an electronic store to beat the line.

All the walmarts I called had long lines.

It seems to me, from all my reading, that Wal-Mart is the worst place to try to pick one up.

I really can't imagine that every store (at least in the small town I live in) won't have a long line of people trying to pick one up tomorrow as well.
I don't want to stand in line. I'll try a few stores in the morning (Target and Best Buy probably) but I'm guessing both will be sold out.

I talked to a few store employees and they basically said there isn't really any point standing in line unless you really want one now as they'll getting a ton in very soon.

Re: Wii stake out - when are you heading into line?
I saw with my own eyes a Wii controller today, and it's a tad smaller and significantly lighter than I expected. And the buttons were kind of clicky too.
I'm a bit concerned for the Wii though because at our Best Buy at least, the Wii display and the PS3 display are no more than 5 ft. from each other, and I have a feeling people will just look at the graphics and kind of ignore the Wii. And at 9:30PM yesterday, we didn't have anyone lined up for the Wii (but this seems to be more from the expectation that they'll be easy to get).

Re: Wii stake out - when are you heading into line?
I was at a Barenaked Ladies concert yesterday, and watched Casino Royale today, and the lady-friend kept me busy until 5pm. I wound up checking every Wal-Mart, Target, GameStop and EB Games easily accessible from I-75 from Cinncinnati to my house. The K-Marts had 3 units a piece or so, but would not sell until 9am in the morning, and I wasn't going to take my chances so far away from home.
To anybody who said that you'd be able to just stroll into your favorite store on launch day to pick up a Wii, smurf you. Hard. In the ass. With your mom's nose. For a nickel. Honestly, me not getting my hands on one as easily as predicted reassures me who's going to kick ass this generation given that they can keep 3rd party support.

We decided to make a change of plans. We got in line at the best buy at midnight with 2 friends and my brother. we were #33 of 55 units. we got zelda and the console...
after playing wii sports, I wish we got 3 extra controllers. wii sports is too fun for a packaged game! Haven't played zelda yet, but I'm sure it'll be awesome

Wiisports rocks. My mom pwned me @ Tennis and Bowling, and she was like "wow, we need to play this more". Not bad for a lady who hates video games.
Going to pick up my copy of zelda now, will post pictures from last nights event later.

Conner have you been able to get the Wii wireless connection going? My router is WPA2-PSK AES secured, but it doesn't seem to connect...

Re: Wii stake out - when are you heading into line?
Scored everything on my list, but had to sit in the cold for 9 hours. My wife and I were #'s 4 & 5 out of 39. By 7am, there were 50 people. 11 refused to leave in hopes there would actually be more.
Going to sleep now.
Oh, and unable to connect to Wiiconnect24. Ready to DL some classics man!

I could have got one if I wanted to stand in line for 9 hours. Yeah, I have better things to do.

Ain't no Tetris for Wii yet. But it'll be groovy when there is.

Re: Wii stake out - when are you heading into line?
That was an easy as could be. I waited 20 minutes to get a pre-order, and 5 minutes for my console. The store I went to had no extra units, but it seemed like they had plenty to stock pre-orders. Zelda and all the other games were in ready supply. I didn't spy any component cables anywhere but that's ok. It seems that Wii can do widescreen display in composite mode, so that will tide me over for the time being.
Also, TINY!
