Here is hoping that they restock relatively quickly. Anyone know anything about that? I got estimates of a week, two weeks, month, and they had no idea.

I've been told a week at my EB Games. Wal-Marts... a month.

I think Fred Meyer is something like a week or two. And yeah, I think Walmart, ShopKo, Target, K-Mart are all at the month range.

Re: Wii stake out - when are you heading into line?

Zelda - I only played about ten minutes so far (I had to go to sleep, I had been awake for twenty six hours at that point and could barley keep my eyes open) seems good.  Controls are pretty much exactly the same as the old games (it feels very much like a regular controller, using the analog stick in the left hand and such) but with some extra control with the wiimote.  Graphics look great, but I have a feeling the TV I'm using is dying (what timing).

Also, my Wii can connect to the net with ease - it did make two updates though.  Also, I made an album of the photos I took with my camera phone - you can see it here.

My last ditch effort is my Costco.  Twenty-four units tomorrow or Tuesday.

Re: Wii stake out - when are you heading into line?

I'll periodically check stores, but unless I happen to get lucky or unless another huge influx arrives I doubt I'll find one before Christmas.

Eh, we should be getting twice as many systems as we launched with by years end - so it shouldn't be all that hard.

I didn't think so either but my friend said they were getting them.  They have 2 games currently available (but no Zelda).

The video game store my brother-in-law manages (Slackers) apparently won't be getting any until after Christmas.

Re: Wii stake out - when are you heading into line?

I waited infront of Target for 13 hours with some friends. I think it was worth it. I got Zelda, and played it for a little while. But now I need sleep. My Wii's number is 2709 1248 5798 6792

Re: Wii stake out - when are you heading into line?

I ran an update when I first hooked it up, but now I can't connect to Wii connect24. Keeps giving me an error 110213?

Any ideas?

Okay I'm connected. It turns out that like the DS, the Wii uses 802.11b. I had my network set to G-only which is why it didn't work.

To anybody who said that you'd be able to just stroll into your favorite store on launch day to pick up a Wii, smurf you. Hard. In the ass. With your mom's nose. For a nickel. Honestly, me not getting my hands on one as easily as predicted reassures me who's going to kick ass this generation given that they can keep 3rd party support.

People were lined up from 12AM here to get one, and they all sold out (all the extra controllers they had too).

I wasn't too surprised, but I was a little surprised they all went at opening.

It's crazy to think tough that Nintendo has already outsold the PS3 by a WIDE margin... son of a bitches...

Zelda aside, what's the verdict on the virtual console (download times, controls, storage), and the current crop of Wiimote FPSs?

Re: Wii stake out - when are you heading into line?

Nintendo Wii supply dries up

Nintendo outstrips the PS3

By Nick Farrell: Monday 20 November 2006, 06:33

THE WEEKEND launch of the Nintendo Wii has resulted in a sell out despite the fact that most shops had tons more to flog than Sony's PS3 launch two days earlier.

According to Associated Press, most Wii queues formed up in the morning before the shops opened. There was little of the hysteria that marked the introduction of the PS3.

However, there were enough punters in the queues to sell all Wii stocks. Nintendo said that it expected to flog four million units by the end of the year, but is not saying how many it cleared over the weekend.

If it's four million by year's end and 662,414 (sorry Books, update again) now, then supply shouldn't be a lasting problem for most. Pockets of inequality in distribution will give some folks problems the way I can't walk to my corner and buy an ear of corn from Orion's fields.

We're going to try to get two more controllers this week before Thanksgiving.  Where's the best bet for obtaining component cables the soonest?

Probably online. I'm hoping that component cables show up before Xmas in retail stores though. What would be event nicer is if the Wii came with a VGA out... that'd be awesome.

I can finally play Metroid Prime in 480p! Weeee

Apparently component cables should be ordered online or via calling nintendo directly.
