Re: God's talking to you? You sure about that?
Hmmmm... He's certainly had more than two weeks "vacation" by now - his last post was Dec. 12th. Maybe he's chosen to stay out this time. [Hey, oatie: he didn't get like perma-banned or anything, did he? He is staying out of his own free will, right?]
Oh well, we'll continue quite well without him, I'm sure. Someone new is sure to step in and fill that void in our secularist-lefty-satan-worshiping lives. God knows there are enough of 'em out there...

Wrong, KingFred. The author of Camp David is an artist, a true wordsmith, and people who can write like that and are willing to do so freely in an improvisational setting such as this are few and far between. I couldn't care less what his political or religious beliefs are.

No, he had a month off this time. (See "The Banned" in Forum Forum Forum" for the full list of people who are currently temp-banned. That's locked, so it's "Banned Topic" if you want to talk about it.)

Re: God's talking to you? You sure about that?
Answer to Schnicky's serious question:
(1) God DOES sometimes talk to people, directly to their minds (inspiration) or indirectly through dreams or messengers (angels) who may momentarily be inhabiting human forms -- real people you know (especially children or those nearest to death) or sometimes strangers.
(2) When God does speak to you, there is absolutely no way to know if it really is God or just the possibility of God, no matter how profound your feeling of certainty. That's where intelligence and free will come in. You gotta evaluate the message itself, not the messenger. If the message is creative, it's probably God-inspired. If it's destructive, it's more likely not, since God is good.
(3) If the one who thinks God is speaking to him happens to be a person who approves of and executes the death penalty (pun intended), gives tax breaks to the rich, allows innocent people to die in an attack that he gleefully refers to as "Shock and Awe", who feels no problem in committing genocide, who also thinks he's got the message directly from Heaven and, finally, who comes from a family of rich megalomaniacal bitches, you must conclude it's self delusion, not the voice of God, that he hears. Bush is the Prince of War.

Re: God's talking to you? You sure about that?
There is, of course, a simple way to avoid the possibility of human error, which is for God to express a message directly using a physical manifestation to leave behind a message written in one or more human languages. There would be ostentatious ways of doing this, of course, such as giant letters of stone, but the simplest course would simply be for God to write His message down Himself. Since He has apparently never chosen to do this, He must not mind the possibility of human error.

... mind the possibility of human error.
Mind it? No. God invented it (the possibility, not the errors).
And, Roc, it seems you're suggesting God perform a miracle? Trouble is, even when there is a miracle, not everyone believes it.

Re: God's talking to you? You sure about that?
Bush says that God talks to him because he knows that 60 percent of voting Americans consider it possible, just as comprehensive surveys have shown that about 40 percent of the American public believes the Holy Bible to be historically accurate.
If you have an idea and you want to scare someone away from questioning it, you say its God's idea. Because you know what they do to people who disagree with God.
