Re: Guys how do you take your shirt off?

Anyway, if you're grabbing the neck at the back you're stretching your shirt.

nothing a trip thru the wash won't fix. but mine usually end up inside out when removed.

but on a button down, my preference is to unbutton the cuffs, then the shirt, then let it fall behind me catching it with one hand. my dry cleaner does a nice job of putting it back together on a hanger.

Re: Guys how do you take your shirt off?

I never realised what a complex operation this is, until this thread made me think about it...

I put both hands round the back of my neck and oik the shirt up a few inches, then run my hands round to the front, lift the shirt up to just above my eyes, but below my hair. Then I run my hands round to the back again and carefully pull the shirt upwards toward the top of my head. As I pull, I move my hands back round the front again, pulling the the shirt away from my hair. Once my head is completely within the shirt I move my hands toward the back again, slip my left thumb into the neck and pull forward.

This allows me to take my shirt off:
- without ruining my hair
- without knocking my glasses (though I usually wear contacts nowadays)
- and ensuring the shirt is the right way out.

For shirts with buttons, I always unbutton all the way down and just take it off from the arms (not over the head). For long sleeved shirts though, I never undo the cuffs. I have really small hands, and if I put my thumb and little finger together, I can easily pull my hand through without unbuttoning them.

Fascinating thread!!

Real men don't worry about messing up their hair.  Plus the un-kempt tousseled look is very in.

I used to do the pulling at collar method.  When I broke my arm, I couldn't anymore beacause I couldn't reach, so now I usually do the crossed-arm-from-bottom method.

The arm-crossed method is also good for tank tops, where pulling at the collar may at times be impossible.

Re: Guys how do you take your shirt off?

It depends.
If I'm going to put the shirt in the hamper and I don't care about making it inside-out, then I pull up from the bottom.
If I intend to use the shirt again, I use the pulling at the collar.

I grab my shirt between the shoulder blades with my right arm and pull up.

Yeah I got excited when I saw that pilt had made this thread, anyone know what he's doing these days?

Meh - cuffs, three buttons at the top, and a pull over the head. This is promptly followed by a "rehanging." big_smile

My hair is un-kempt in appearance, but alas it naturally wants to lie flat and have a side parting à la geek. It takes a great deal of effort to make my hair look as bad as it does!! And thus, I must take steps to ensure it doesn't become disrupted by garments.

Real men don't have hair like Mr Bean!!

Re: Guys how do you take your shirt off?

Usually I stick my left arm in, and then my right arm in. Then I just push it up.

Sometimes I will just grab the bottom and pull it off upside down, but that's a rare event.

Re: Guys how do you take your shirt off?

My hair is very short, so it can't be messed up.  It's fantastic.

As for the shirt, I guess I pull from the collar.  I don't own any tank tops.

Re: Guys how do you take your shirt off?

Forget about how...  What about when?

Example: You're on the basketball court, or playing softball. It's hot and sunny as hell. The last thing you want is a farmer's tan. Do you wait for others to take theirs off? Do you do the "raise shirt to wipe sweat off your face" routine as an indication you're about to take it off? Or say you're about to take your shirt off but another guy does so first. Do you wait a few minutes so it doesn't look like you followed?

Sheesh

There's no point in bumping a thread after 11 months, especially when 11 months ago it was bumped after 2 years.
