Steve Jobs Rare Public Appearance

The Texas Public Education Reform Foundation is sponsoring a statewide education summit on 16 Feb 2007. Steve Jobs and Michael Dell are scheduled to speak at 12:50 PM regarding: Learning,Technology & Education Reform, Enhancing Education through Technology.
Steve Jobs is rarely, if ever seen, in public other than at Apple Retail Store Openings, MWSF or WWDC. Are there any Apple/Mac enthusiasts available to document the event in Austin TX? Photos welcomed.

Re: Steve Jobs Rare Public Appearance

Jobs did the commencement speech at Stanford I think a while back, and it was a good speech. He's also done a couple of TV interviews and Time Magazine interviews too.

I think he's probably done some others too.

You can get it from the Stanford iTunes store here, if you want to hear it: http://itunes.stanford.edu/

Just because the guy doesn't doesn't do a lot of marketing gigs or paid speeches doesn't mean he's never "seen in public." shrug It's not like he got too rich and moved to Africa.

When Apple wins large contracts with education boards or other high profile super computer adopters there is Never a mention of his involvement, not even a ribbon cutting. I don't expect he would do speeches for pay. If he was seen in public don't you think maybe some of his admirers/stockholders would've posted online. Why don't locals from Cupertino or Palo Alto comment/post snap shots? When was the last time anyone saw a recent post about sightings of his Gulfstream V? Are there any Apple watchers who also are plane spotters? For the Austin TX airport fly in take note of tail number N2N.

Traditionally, he does turn up at major adopters but does so in a burkha.

Who the heck stalks smaller airports looks for sighting of private jets? Is there some sort of executive management paparazzi that has recently formed?

But seriously. CEOs are ridiculously busy, and most people on earth don't care about them when they're in public. So, umm, ya.

That's a good idea for corporate officers of public companies who go to extraordinary efforts to remain inconspicuous. Airplane spotting is a recognized hobby: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_spotting

How about a SHOUT OUT for an Appledom Paparazzi Corps.

Re: Steve Jobs Rare Public Appearance

Just watched the Stanford Address. It was a great speech.

I was surprised to see him read his speech nearly completely from his notes--everytime I've seen him give a MacWorld keynote, I've never seen him refer to notes...(unless there's a video prompter). Reassuring to see that occasionally he does read speeches...

If Steve Jobs comes into contact with Michael Dell, would there be a huge release of energy and the annilihation of both of them?

Yep.  It would cause an instant black hole and the universe would implode.
