Re: House warming tips
It's 15º F in the morning here for the second day in a row. I've lived in cold climates, but it's harder here because my house was built for 110º F summer days and evaporative cooling. In other words, it needs to breathe, so our house isn't sealed. The pellet stove is keeping the house warm - just. It should get up to 40º this afternoon, so the stove will probably shut down then until around 7 PM. No wind today, which makes a big difference too.

Brrr. They haven't been here yet to fix the radiator/pumps. They better smurfing get here soon.
Can't we sue for breach of contract or something if they don't fix something vital like heat in winter?

Here are a couple of ticks I used to stay warm when I lost power in my parartment
1 if you have a gas stove, light the burners. Most ovens won't light because they need the electricity to get started, but a match will start the burners and you can stay warm that way.
2. If you have an electric stove, find a small room that you can keep heat in and light a bunch of candels. I did this in the bathroom, and although it was a bit uncomfortable, it was warmer than the rest of the apartment. Good luck and I hope they have the heat on soon.

Re: House warming tips
Well, we have made sure that all the vents in the basement are closed off. I know that because the furnace is there as well as being below ground, it will be naturally warmer. I spend most of my time there just to avoid the cold, and the draft. Plus I'm getting a lot of work done. I can actually find things now!
I've also taken up spinning. You know, wool into yarn. The basement is a wonderful place to work I have found out. Our dog won't go down there, so he doesn't get in my way and try to eat the wool. Plus, putting your mind on something like that keeps it off the cold. Usually works.
It is suppose to warm up tomorrow. I sure hope so. Our puppy hasn't been out for a walk in a week and he is getting restless, but with this cold, I just refuse to go out. I don't have the cold weather gear to be out for long

"Spinning" on a bicycle will keep you even warmer.

I think that when it get below 20F, I can't feel the difference. could be 15 or -5, it would feel the same. That's when you gotta trust the thermometer and think about your exposure time and your clothes, ect.

Sorry,
That was ment for Denali, cause she was talkin 'bout how drafty her place is.
I know drafty! I've lived in rented single-wides for 1/3 of my life, and through two of the three worst winters in 100 years.
When your glad to see ice frozen around the window frame (on the inside) cause you know that the ice is sealing the draft. Well, thats one perforated tin can your dwellin' in my friend!
