He actually pushed out USB 1.0. Man, that was annoying. 1.1 didn't arrive until the Slot-load iMacs.

Actually the USB specs in the tray loaders would be 1.1 draft at the very least as they supported 12 Mbps transfer rates. USB 1.0 only supported 1.5 Mbps transfer rates.

Re: Sony vs Microsoft: who do you hate more?

Revision A iMacs were shipped with USB 1.0, while revision B iMacs shipped with USB 1.0.1. It wasn't until the tray 266 that the hardware was USB 1.1 compatible and even then it wasn't until the slot-loads that it shipped with USB 1.1 firmware.

Re: Sony vs Microsoft: who do you hate more?

Where are you getting your info. Everything I've read states the original iMacs ran at 12 Mbps (which according several source was introduced with the USB 1.1) standard.

I've also found links that list USB 1.1 as being the original iMac.

Bear in mind I've also seen 1.1 misnomered as 1.0. by a number of sites but it's usually apparent which one is which if they claim 1.5 or 12 Mbps speeds.

The only difference between A and B was a firmware update.

I have to say that I hate the petroleum and car companies more than either Sony or Microsoft.  If I had to pick Sony or Microsoft, hmmmm.....  Microsoft, I guess.

Re: Sony vs Microsoft: who do you hate more?

I did find some differences between the USB on the tray loaders and the slot loaders.
In the tray loaders the USB ports were on a shared controller and required OCHI compliant devices,
In the slot loaders the USB ports were on separate controllers, effectively doubling the total throughput and number of devices one can attach.
