What to do with vintage MA issues?

I read MA for the longest time and loved this awesome magazine. I could never bring myself to toss the old issues, since I never knew what tip or trick I would need again in the future... As a result I have a LOT of old MA issues. Now I've bought a house and I'm afraid it's time to move on...

I've got every issue of MA from the premier in Sept, 1996 through Jan, 2000, including a copy of the premier issue still sealed in the plastic (somehow I ended up with two). Rather than toss them out, is anyone out there interested in them? Is there any $ value to these things? Anyone have ideas of what I should do with them?

eBay.

You can't offer 'em here. It's not allowed.

Re-read them any time you want to remember what DayStar did, what OpenDoc was, or what the "hip" aesthetic looked like in 1996.

OpenDoc was cool.

Re: What to do with vintage MA issues?

I've been using old magazines to heat my condo because of the damn weather here lately.  It's made national news lol.  Hurricane force winds in the Puget Sound!  Power was out for last 3 days and came back today.  Several tree's almost got my building...WHEW!  Anyway, if a magazine has something really cool like a tutorial in it, then I'll keep it.  Otherwise, I keep it for about 2 months and toss it.

May I suggest you drop off a two or three month old MacAddict/MacLife where others might read it, for those who might never hear of MacLife any other way. Suggestions include college, doctor, hospital and other waiting rooms. Leave the subscription cards attached.

Actually, you have a good idea. Unfortunately, after reading each one more times than I can count, I found it necessary to donate the magazine and the disks to the Sanitary Engineers.
I only keep the current 3 issues.

I had the same problem. Then I realised that what worked in System 7.5 proably will not work in OSX.
Most of the software and hardware reviewed or advertised is no longer avalible.
Unless you run a network of Performas and Bondi iMacs, you dont need any MAs printed before 2001.
Get rid of everything up to the introduction of the Mac model you are using.
Aw, Hell. Go ahead, get rid of all of them. I give you permission.

I'm saving mine. I wish I had a scanner so that I could scan in some of the how-to's and the tech tidbits.

Now, where in the name of... did I put that thing that I forgot what it was and why I was looking for it?

Re: What to do with vintage MA issues?

i wish i had them all.  i found macaddict by visiting a thrift store.  someone had gotten rid of alot of their issues, many never opened.  i bought them all up ( $0.25 each), and spent the next couple weeks reading them all, cover to cover.  i then went and got a subsription to the mag, and been getting it ever since.  and because i started after the mag was 3yrs old, i have holes in my collection.  so i say, if you don't want them, send them to a local thrift store so that someone else could get hooked like i did.

How about the CD's and slip cases? Any takers? If someone wants to help me out, I'd be willing to scan them all to create some kind of archival page.
