New to macs long time player of UT2004

Just got the imac with the 24 inch widscreen display and 7300gt and I am very impressed. I played UT 2004 and decided to buy the mac version of it and again am very impressed with the performance. I was wondering if I stay around, if I could potentially maybe join maclifes gaming group.

Welcome! We're always looking for new cannon fod...erm I mean new members.

Add [MA]* in the buddies list to help find us online. Also add it in your tag so we can find you.

Now for the bad news...we havent been very active. We lost some folks to WoW and now a good number of us are playing Gears of War. Never fear tho...UT2007 is just around the corner.

We are very informal around here. Only rule we have is DBaJ. (Don't be a jerk) What's even better is you don't even need a Mac to join! wink All are welcome even if you're misguided in your choice of PCs. big_smile smile

Which will almost certainly require Bootcamp to run and a Mac Pro to be much, if any, fun.

Re: New to macs long time player of UT2004

I don't think my ol' Blue Bondi would handle '07 too well. smile

How's the watercooled... Mac coming? http://homepage.mac.com/oatmeal/MAF/maxes/ElectroMax.gif cool

And a 7300GT should run UT07...just without the purdy, good framerates, iffy on the multithreaded rendering, and get ready to go Leopard or cough up another $29 or so for Bootcamp Final on Tiger.

Fixed. tongue

Maybe he'd be better off with Halo? big_smile

Re: New to macs long time player of UT2004

Everything seems to run fine on my mac Basically I do alot of web design work on it and only really play UT and maybe I will hit up Halo. I was really into games when I had my PC. I played UT, all of the quake series, Guild wars, both Dues ex games, tons of Doom, and even tried my hand at running a doom server online as well as having a website for it for awhile even though it was a freewebs junk website. Also tried my hand at modding a few times but that sorta failed.

Actually I was wondering if it would be possible to make a UT character in like Blender I downloaded it and was tweaking around with it. But thats another topic. I actually downloaded the Halo demo and am impressed by it and as for the guy who said I would be better off with that I was wondering if the mac version has the mod tools because I found the UT2004 for mac doesnt come with the editor.

OK, I am rambling now, Thanks again, Ive been playing under the alias [MA]FragUPlenty and I believe I added Leviathann to my ichat. Or maybe someone with a similiar screen name.

Re: New to macs long time player of UT2004

Also if you don't know, back in the day [MA] played against another clan of mac players {RA} (Rebel Alliance) which I am a part of.

There was a lot of [MA] clan members who joined {RA}. So also add {RA}* to your list so you can find us as well. wink

Almost no Mac games have editing tools. Mac devs never found it economically viable... that said, if you run the PC version of a game on an Intel Mac via Bootcamp, it works, because then it's just a Mac running WinXP part-time. (There has been a rumor that if UT2007 does reach OSX, then it would have the editor, but there's been no word on '07 for OSX for some time. Also worth noting, Halo 2 Vista will have integrated editing tools for multiplayer stuff- IIRC essentially Bungie's own Guerilla and Sapien. No ship date for H2V has been announced, despite Vista hitting retail in a week, but it is getting quite a workover besides the editor- graphics, sound etc. are all being sweetened up a lot over the XBox version, and will have online mulitplay via XBox Live Anywhere- Vista PCs will be able to play against others [not against 'Boxes] and also use other XBL services- friends lists, messaging etc... see a Friend playing CoD 3 on 360, invite him to a game. XBLA goes active this summer.

H2V, as the name implies, is Vista-only, to incorporate those services).
